Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views—recycling and consuming less—and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. The example regarding Japan is vague and lacks a clear connection to the argument. The discussion on 'consuming less' is somewhat superficial, focusing more on using paper bags rather than the broader concept of reduced consumption. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments lack depth and specific evidence, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, ensure that each point is fully explained with logical reasoning and concrete examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'In other words' is used incorrectly to introduce a new point rather than rephrasing the previous one. Additionally, some transitions, such as 'To explicate it' and 'Therefore', feel forced. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help the flow of the essay significantly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'decide to things recycle' and 'highly harm environment'. The repetition of basic terms like 'environment' and 'techniques' limits the lexical variety. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and occasional errors in collocation mean the range is limited. Focusing on learning topic-specific collocations and synonyms will help improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Issues related with environment is growing'), missing articles, and incorrect word order (e.g., 'need to consume less'). Complex structures are attempted but often contain errors, such as 'Change in individual life to make sustainable development which are to useful for people'. These errors are frequent and occasionally cause the reader to pause, though they do not completely impede communication. A focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement is essential.
