Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent era, environment safety concerns has been increasing worldwide and many people are choosing to recycle, while some people suggest that recycling is not enough and they believe we have to consume less. In my opinion, recycling is very crucial as it saves cost and wastage in society, and I also believe we need to consume less so the home garbage can be reduce.

On one hand, environment safety is fundamental part of every society, people nowadays tried to recycle waste materials to secure their personal spaces such as plastic, bottles, and papers. For this they need to recycle this items because it can also saves cost and wastage, for example, if a person who is buying plastic and papers they can recycle it and after recycling can sell those material and gain profit instead of throwing away things which can affect environment and many disease can occur due to poor surroundings.

On other hand, people suggestions are also beneficial that if we consume less so we do not need to recycle anything, moreover if plastic will be produced in bulk quantities and if we buy such things so definitely we have to throw them somewhere else, furthermore, sometime we have to recycled garbage to make environment sustainable, to minimize those issues we need to make strict plans. For example, if we make a law that in our country minimum plastic or paper product will be manufacture in that case we can be able to minimize wastage, because recycling is not a solution only around 30% people recycle globally but remaining people are just destroying surroundings, though proper rules should be liable against plastic production.

In conclusion, although environment safety concerns has been increased all over the world and a lot of people are choosing to recycle, and other suggests that recycling is not enough and they believe we have to consume less. In my opinion, both points has their own benefits, because recycling can save cost and wastage in society, and if strict actions should be followed on plastic production we people ultimately consume less.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument regarding recycling is focused primarily on cost-saving and profit, which is a narrow interpretation of environmental protection. The discussion on consuming less is also slightly underdeveloped, relying on general statements rather than specific, well-supported examples. While the task is addressed, the arguments could be more sophisticated and better linked to the broader environmental context to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'On other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of linking words is occasionally repetitive or slightly unnatural, such as 'furthermore, sometime we have to recycled'. Referencing is generally clear, but the progression of ideas within paragraphs could be smoother. The essay is coherent overall, but the transitions between points lack the sophistication required for a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision expected at higher levels. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'In recent era' (should be 'In recent times'), 'home garbage can be reduce' (should be 'reduced'), and 'proper rules should be liable' (should be 'enforced'). While the meaning is generally clear, the student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles with collocations. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise terminology related to environmental issues and ensuring correct word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('environment safety concerns has been increasing'), incorrect verb forms ('we have to recycled'), and missing articles or prepositions. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent and occur in both simple and complex sentences. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence construction would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
