Student answer (Band 5.0)
Environment plays very important role in our daily life that's why its our responsibility to protect it. some people believe that recycling products like plastics is enough to protect our environment because it reduce waste products but its not enough.
There is actually 5Rs (recycle, refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose) which is necessary components that can protect our environment.
Consume less is actually a broad word which means refuse, reduce, reuse and repurpose.
Recycling product is good for protecting our environment but according to my opinion we have to consume less so we will recycle less.
lets discuss it with examples if we have the option to make bags from clothes which will replace plastic bags,
Repurpose is also one step to protect our environment like if we bought some food items which is in the jar or which is in the bottle, instead of throwing that empty jar or bottle we have to reuse it in our home.
Recycling also need new resources and fuel to make new products so it is important we can use less products which will eventually decrease the cost of recycling and make our environment neat and clean

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you acknowledge both views—recycling versus consuming less—the discussion is underdeveloped and lacks the depth required for an academic essay. You mention the '5Rs' but do not provide a balanced or detailed exploration of why some people prioritize recycling. Your personal opinion is stated, but the supporting arguments are brief and lack specific, real-world examples or logical expansion. To improve, you must expand each body paragraph with detailed explanations and concrete evidence to meet the length requirement and fully address the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. It is composed of a series of short, disconnected sentences rather than well-developed paragraphs. There is a lack of cohesive devices (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') to link ideas logically. The transition between the introduction and the body is abrupt, and the conclusion is missing entirely. To improve, you should organize your thoughts into a standard four-paragraph structure: introduction, two body paragraphs (one for each view), and a conclusion. Use linking words to guide the reader through your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. You use simple terms like 'good', 'protect', and 'make' repeatedly. There are also issues with word forms and collocations, such as 'consume less is actually a broad word' (it is a concept, not a word) and 'recycling product' (should be 'recycling products'). While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. Focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to environmental issues to enhance your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles ('Environment plays very important role'), subject-verb agreement issues ('recycling... need new resources'), and punctuation errors. The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with very few attempts at complex sentences. The lack of control over basic grammar, such as 'its our responsibility' (should be 'it's') and 'consume less is', hinders the flow of the essay. You need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and apostrophes.
