Student answer (Band 5.5)
Our environment is really concerning with the passage of time as air pollution is increasing day by day so we need to check safety measures to controll our environment. To conserve tge environment one thing is recycling. Recycling is a process in which we reused the plastic items instead of burning them or destroy them. So yes recycling is a good initiative to save our environment. But, if we think only recycling is good enough to target our concern, then, we are wrong. We should do more than the recycling. Recycling is just one aspect of controlling air pollution buy there are also so many ways or measures that should be done to conserve our environment. For-example plants are very necessary to make our air clean. People should do to grow more plants. Green house effect is also the major cause, we should also focus on it. Traffic polution is one of the major cause of pollution. Carbon free cars should be invented so it can make less contribution to air pollution. Smoke of cars are very injutious to health and it is destroying our environment or cars should work on battries such as electrical cars. So yes there are alot of other things that are as important or we can say more important than recycling. Yes, recycling can be a good contributor in the conservation and preservation of environement but no only this can not be enough. This is just a myth and people who thought tgat this is noy enough are right and i agree with them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the importance of recycling and the necessity of consuming less. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention that recycling is not enough and suggest alternatives like planting trees and using electric cars, these points are presented as a list rather than being fully explored or supported with specific examples or logical depth. The position is clear, but the argument lacks the sophistication required for a higher band. To improve, ensure each main idea is supported by a clear explanation and a relevant example, and maintain a more formal, academic tone throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks clear paragraphing, which is essential for a structured academic response. The entire text is presented as one block, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas. While there is a basic attempt to link sentences using words like 'but' and 'so', the use of cohesive devices is repetitive and sometimes mechanical. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between the two viewpoints is abrupt. To improve, organize your essay into distinct paragraphs: an introduction, one paragraph for each viewpoint, and a conclusion. Use a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range expected at higher levels. You rely on basic terms such as 'good', 'bad', and 'things', which limits the impact of your argument. There are also some spelling errors (e.g., 'controll', 'tge', 'injutious', 'tgat') and awkward collocations like 'target our concern'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and the presence of spelling mistakes prevent a higher score. Focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to environmental issues to enhance your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Smoke of cars are'), incorrect word forms (e.g., 'Traffic polution is one of the major cause'), and punctuation errors. The sentence construction is often repetitive, relying heavily on simple structures. To improve, work on using a wider variety of complex sentence forms, such as conditional sentences or relative clauses, and pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and pluralization to reduce the frequency of errors.
