Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to address the specific prompt regarding environmental concern, recycling, and consuming less, instead relying on generic template phrases such as 'this topic is important in our daily life' and leaving placeholders like '[TOPIC]'. Furthermore, the response is critically under-length at only 180 words, failing the 250-word minimum requirement. Because the task is not addressed and the length requirement is severely unmet, this falls under Band 4.0 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text maintains a basic paragraph structure with some transitional markers like 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion'. However, due to the lack of specific topic development and placeholders like '[TOPIC]', the overall progression is abstract and difficult to follow logically. Cohesive devices are used mechanically rather than meaningfully. This fits the Band 5.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is extremely generic and repetitive, relying on phrases like 'important issue', 'direct effect', and 'positive and negative effects'. There is no attempt at less common lexical items or subject-specific vocabulary related to environmental issues or recycling. The vocabulary is minimally adequate for general communication, matching Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammatical structures are relatively simple, with basic sentence patterns such as 'The main reason is that...' and 'People should have...'. While there are few overt grammatical errors, the range of structures is extremely limited, and complex sentences are largely absent or overly formulaic. This performance aligns with Band 5.0.
