Student answer (Band 5.0)
There are many people in every society who have concerns about the air pollution. They prefer that we have to recycle the things that used before. On the other, hand there are many people who think that recycling is not the only solution they say that we have have to consume less. In this essay, I will discuss both views and give my opinion about environmental concerns.
First of all, most of the people think that we have to recycle the things. For example, In everyday life we use a lot of things such as plastic bottles and glass bottles. After drinking we throw these bottles on the garbage that cause in environmental problems. But if preserve these bottles and use these again that don't make environmental probem. On the other hand, many people think that we should have to consume less. For example, when we went to the market we buy many goods and pack them in plastic bags many even though many people take two or three bags instead of that if we buy a large shopping bag or basket for shopping that causes in the reduction of plastic bags and it affects a lot in environment.
In my opinion, I think we have to a strong decesions against factories and mills because they throw a lot of garbage and useless material in the river and the smoke of these factories has many effects on the environment.
In conclusion, Government should have to take solid decesion aginst large factories and mills. If government do then our environmental problems will be solved automatically.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views—recycling versus consuming less—and attempts to give a personal opinion, although the opinion shifts somewhat into factory regulations rather than focusing directly on personal consumption. The student states, 'In this essay, I will discuss both views and give my opinion about environmental concerns' and outlines both sides, mentioning plastic and glass bottles for recycling and shopping bags for consumption. However, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack deeper extension, and the conclusion introduces a new primary focus on factories and mills which distracts from the core debate about consumer habits. This places the performance firmly in the Band 5.0 range, where the task is addressed only partially and the position is not always clearly sustained throughout the development of ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text is organised into clear paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs for both views, a personal opinion paragraph, and a conclusion. However, overall progression is limited by abrupt transitions and mechanical cohesive devices such as 'First of all,' 'For example,' and 'On the other hand.' Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in sentences like 'If government do then our environmental problems will be solved automatically,' where the pronoun reference and logical connection between sentences are strained. Paragraphing is attempted, but the logical flow from the body paragraphs to the personal opinion introduces a disjointed shift toward industrial pollution rather than summarising or concluding the specific consumer-focused arguments previously raised. This corresponds to a Band 5.0 score for coherence and cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on simple terms such as 'things,' 'environment,' 'problems,' and 'buy.' There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'cause in environmental problems' instead of 'cause environmental problems' and 'preserve these bottles' instead of 'keep' or 'save these bottles.' Attempts to use less common vocabulary are very limited, and spelling errors like 'decesions' and 'aginst' occur. While the meaning can generally be understood, the restricted range and recurrent lexical errors prevent the writing from achieving a higher band, making Band 5.0 an accurate descriptor for lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures and repetitive patterns such as 'there are many people who' and 'we have to.' Attempts at complex sentences often result in noticeable grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, for example, 'After drinking we throw these bottles on the garbage that cause in environmental problems' and 'when we went to the market we buy many goods and pack them in plastic bags many even though many people take two or three bags instead of that if we...'. There are frequent errors in tense consistency, prepositions, and article usage. Because simple forms are handled with frequent errors and complex sentences are prone to severe structural slips, a Band 4.5 or 5.0 is appropriate, with Band 5.0 reflecting the occasional successful communication despite persistent errors.
