Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this innovative world, less wastages will be made by using the process of recycling. Many people thought that recycling is not enough because of the environmental disaster people were experiencing and also lack segregation of disposable and non-disposable wastages. I also agree with the view of the people that environmental problem cannot be controlled by only recycling process.
Furthermore, there is a immense need for more idea for environmental conservation while recycling also play a vital role in environmental conservation. Recycling involves using the same product or making the similar product keeping less wastages using the same material. This behavior will play a significant role in pollution control, maintaning a fertility of the soil, as well as helps to keep the surrounding clean and tidy. For instance, Lalitpur metropolitian city has taken step towards the clean city that includes segregation of plastic and organic waste.
In contrast, other option apart from recycling should be used i.e. to consume less. we should be more focus on using product made from the wood rather than plastic product. This helps to reduce the consumption of plastic material. Furthermore, this will also discourage plastic manufacturing industries and helps adopt natural environmental product that we can use in our day to day lives and it can be found to be more convenient.
However, I think that along with using the recycled material we should focus on less consumption and buy the product from environmental friendly shops like wooden bottles, bag that comes from plants and animal product so that our environment becomes clean and helps us to lead a healthy life.
In conclusion, the growing concern can be solved by using recycle material and slowly turning into other alternative products that helps to bring into practice the concept of sustainable development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that recycling is insufficient and that consuming less is necessary—while also presenting a clear personal opinion throughout the essay. The writer's position is established in the introduction and reinforced in the body paragraphs and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive in places. For instance, the discussion on consuming less could have been extended with more fully realised examples beyond the mention of wooden products and eco-friendly shops. Nevertheless, the main arguments regarding environmental conservation and sustainability are relevant and clearly conveyed, fitting comfortably within the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into an introduction, supporting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used logically to separate the different viewpoints and the author's stance. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or awkwardly deployed, such as the transition phrases 'Furthermore' and 'In contrast', which do not always accurately signal the logical relationship between sentences. Additionally, referencing is occasionally imprecise, leading to minor disruptions in the flow of ideas. These features reflect the characteristics of Band 6, where cohesion is functional but exhibits some mechanical traits.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'environmental conservation', 'sustainable development', and 'segregation'. However, there are notable lexical and word-form errors throughout the response, such as 'wastages' (uncountable noun used as plural), 'maintaning' (spelling error), 'metropolitian' (spelling error), and collocation slips like 'fertility of the soil' in an urban waste context. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they prevent the essay from achieving a higher band score, aligning the lexical control closely with Band 5.5 to 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, attempting various subordinate clauses and conditional concepts. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors involving subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'Many people thought' instead of 'think', 'there is a immense need', 'recycling also play', and 'other option apart from recycling should be used'. Punctuation and capitalization errors also appear, such as the lowercase 'we' following a period. Although these errors do not severely impede understanding, their frequency across complex structures places this performance firmly at Band 5.0.
