Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years concern for the enviournment is increasing significantly, and recycling has become a common way of reducing waste. However some people thought recycling alone will not reduce the waste we need to reduce the consumption. I think both approches are good but cosume less will gove much more importance.

On the one hand recycling provode the several benifits to the enoviornment we should have to recycle more things like glass, paper, metal, plastic product of these material can be processed and get recycled easily. By this we can reduce the ammount of waste from the enviournment. For example recycling the paper can reduce the ammount of cuuting the trees from the enviorment.

On the other hand recycling alone cannot solve the propblem of excessive consumption. New product are need power energy to be prcessed which causes pollution even of we recycled the things. Some things are expensive to to get recycled and need more energy consumption to process. For the sake of the good people need to avoid buying unnecessary things like clothes, plastic things etc. Government and companies can also help by producing excessive packaging.

According to me recycling and reducing both are important and shoud be use together. Recycling is a effectove way of managing waste that has already produded, whereas consuming leass addresed the problemed at it source.

In conclusion, although recycling is an important part of protecting the envoirnment it is not enought on its own. Reducing consumption of the unecessary thinngs combined with it and make more effect.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the view that recycling is crucial and the view that consumption needs to be reduced, while also providing a clear personal opinion. The writer establishes a position early on and maintains it throughout the essay, concluding that both approaches should be used together. However, some ideas are somewhat repetitively expressed, and the development lacks depth and specific illustrative examples beyond general statements about trees and plastic. The arguments regarding energy consumption and waste management are relevant but under-developed, placing the response comfortably within Band 6.0 according to the task response descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay is divided into paragraphs, showing an attempt at a logical structure with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing each view, and a conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally hindered by missing cohesive devices and mechanical referencing. For example, phrases such as 'For the sake of the good' and 'combined with it and make more effect' demonstrate faulty cohesion and awkward transitional phrasing. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion within paragraphs suffers from abrupt shifts and numerous grammatical disruptions that obscure the logical links between sentences, leading to a Band 5.5 score.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate basic arguments about the environment and consumption. However, there are frequent spelling errors ('enviournment', 'approches', 'cosume', 'gove', 'provode', 'enoviornment', 'ammount', 'cuuting', 'propblem', 'effectove', 'produded', 'leass', 'addresed', 'problemed', 'enought', 'unecessary', 'thinngs') and lexical inaccuracies such as 'cosume less will gove much more importance' and 'producing excessive packaging' (where reducing packaging was likely intended). These frequent lexical and spelling errors impede fluency and push the lexical resource score into the Band 5.0 range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense issues ('concern... is increasing... however some people thought'), missing auxiliary verbs ('New product are need power energy'), subject-verb agreement errors, and faulty clause structures (e.g., 'even of we recycled the things'). Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences and missing commas affecting readability. While basic meaning is usually recoverable, the high density of errors prevents the grammar score from reaching Band 5.5, resulting in a solid Band 5.0.
