Student answer (Band 5.0)
There is an ongoing debate over whether to increase recycling or should need to consume less.
I believe that we we need to consume less.
Nowadays recycling has increased than it used to be in the past.People are choosing to recycle more frquently but still it's not sufficient. The environment is growing and subsequently the demand of recycling is.Perhaps the continous efforts of everyone the condition is not under control.Although recycling had played an important role to maintain the healthy environment, but with the increased production of recycleable material, it is not enough now.
On the other hand there is a need to reduce the items which are recycled. We should limit the plastic use as much as possible. For example, instaed of using plastic water bottles the personal re useable bottles should be encouraged. However, government had made policies to reduce waste materials but people have to work on individual levels. It's the moral duty of everyone to keep the environment healthy and safe.
In conclusion, I will suggest to limit the use of waste materials, instead we should transfer to materials that are less dangerous for the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response attempts to discuss both views regarding recycling versus consuming less, but the development of ideas is severely limited by the short length. The text contains only 185 words, falling well short of the 250-word minimum requirement. Consequently, your position and arguments remain underdeveloped. Although you mention both recycling and reducing consumption, the reasoning lacks adequate support and relevant examples from your own knowledge and experience. For instance, the mention of personal reusable bottles is a good start, but it is not expanded upon sufficiently to meet the higher band descriptors. To improve, you must ensure that you write at least 250 words and fully elaborate on each viewpoint with robust explanations and detailed examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text demonstrates a basic overall arrangement with paragraph breaks separating the introduction, body points, and conclusion. However, the logical progression is hindered by abrupt transitions and confusing phrasing, such as 'The environment is growing and subsequently the demand of recycling is.' Cohesive devices are used sparingly or inappropriately, for instance, 'Perhaps the continous efforts of everyone the condition is not under control.' Paragraphing is attempted, but individual paragraphs are quite short and lack internal cohesion. Referencing and linking between sentences need to be strengthened to create a smoother, more logical flow of ideas throughout the entire essay.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with several lexical errors and awkward collocations. Examples include 'increase recycling or should need to consume less', 'frquently', 'continous efforts', and 'recycleable material'. There are also spelling errors, such as 'frquently', 'continous', and 'instaed'. While the student attempts some less common vocabulary related to the environment, such as 'production' and 'policies', the inaccuracies in word choice occasionally impede communication. To achieve a higher band score, you need to expand your lexical range and pay closer attention to spelling, word formation, and natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The essay displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent grammatical and punctuation errors. There are noticeable errors in verb tenses, article usage, and prepositions, such as 'Although recycling had played an important role to maintain the healthy environment' and 'transfer to materials'. Many complex sentence structures are either absent or faulty, and punctuation errors are present, such as missing spaces after periods ('past.People', 'frequently but still'). The high frequency of grammatical mistakes means that error-free sentences are the exception rather than the rule, which places this response securely in the lower bands.
