Student answer (Band 4.5)

Some people are choosing to recycle because they are concern for the environment. Today everyone using more plastic bags and other things that are made by using plastic. Plastic took many year to decay but people choose to recycle it. But some people think that recycling is not enought we need to consume less.

The government should take a note on the use of plastic and start compain about the use of plastic.

According to me the environmet has great effect on our lifes. we use cloth bag instead of the plastic bags. The government should ban the bags that are made of plastics. After farmer cut there crops. They don't burn the remains of crop beause it effect on our environment. Government take action against the burning of the crops and give them techniques how they can made there fields again ready for harvesting.

We can overcome the use of plastics bags and Government shuold also make recyle system that we recycle plastics.People also use iron and steel but don't recycle them on time.

In my opnion we consume less things but today everything base on the plastic, steel, iron or etc.

in medical feild we use daily so much injections drips that are also made of plastic we cannot overcome it but we recycle them. the shoes and slippers are also made of rubber or lether we can also not overcome it . My suggestion is to recycle the things. we also consume less thing that effect our environment .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the main parts of the task by discussing both recycling and consuming less, and includes a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat disjointed. For example, the student writes, 'According to me the environmet has great effect on our lifes. we use cloth bag instead of the plastic bags,' which abruptly shifts from the general discussion of consumerism and recycling to specific government interventions like crop burning. While some relevant ideas are present, they are often under-developed or tangential, placing the response firmly at Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The organization of the essay is weak. The text is divided into short, disjointed paragraphs that lack clear logical progression. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, resulting in a series of disconnected sentences rather than a cohesive argument. For instance, the transition from discussing plastic waste to crop burning ('After farmer cut there crops. They don't burn the remains...') is abrupt and confusing. Paragraphing is not used effectively to structure the different views and the writer's opinion, leading to a score of 4.5.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, with frequent use of simple words like 'use', 'plastic', and 'things'. There are noticeable errors in word formation and spelling, such as 'concern' instead of 'concerned', 'enought' instead of 'enough', 'compain' instead of 'campaign', 'opnion' instead of 'opinion', and 'lether' instead of 'leather'. These errors and the limited range of vocabulary restrict the response to Band 4.0, as the lexical choices are minimally adequate but strain the reader at times.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

Grammatical control is weak throughout the essay. The writer relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences frequently result in errors, such as 'Today everyone using more plastic bags' and 'we consume less things that effect our environment.' There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement, tense consistency ('Plastic took many year'), and punctuation. Errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, justifying a band score of 4.0.
