Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often debated whether individiuals purpose recycle for the environment is sufficent or not. This essay will discuss both the views before regarding my perception.

To begin with, Individuals are favored the idea of recycling the used product due to several reasons. One of the prominent reasons is reduce pollution. To elaborate it, there is growth on the use of plastics products which burn and it makes air pollution. As a result it impacts negatively on environment and promotes such as disease so some people think recyclying helps reduce pollution. Similarly, less productive soil is another major factor of it .For instance, Many people use and throw such a plastics products which is non degradable in the soil and makes soil less productive which is dangerous for the human development and environment.

On the other hand, many people says recycling is not sufficent to protect the environment because of the various reasons. Afforestration is one of the major aspects of it. To clarify it, nowadays people cut the trees and while in the development process the plants and tress are affected so they think recycling is not enough, afforestration is also crucial.

In my perspective, Recycling is important but factors such as afforestration is also the vital role in the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the task only partially, presenting a basic discussion of recycling and consumption, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed. Although the prompt requires at least 250 words, this submission falls short at only 211 words, which significantly restricts the depth of the arguments. The student attempts to express a position, but it is not always clear or fully supported with relevant examples. For instance, the reference to afforestation in the body paragraph lacks connection to the core debate of consuming less versus recycling. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to expand the word count to meet the minimum requirement, present fully developed arguments for both views, and maintain a clearer, more consistent personal stance throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organisation with distinct paragraphs, but the response lacks a clear overall progression. The writer attempts to use transitional phrases such as "To begin with" and "On the other hand," but cohesive devices are frequently mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, as seen in "To elaborate it" and "Similarly, less productive soil is another major factor of it." Paragraphing is visible, though the conclusion is extremely abrupt and lacks proper summarisation of the main arguments. Referencing is occasionally confusing, making it difficult to follow the logical development of ideas from one sentence to the next. To improve, the student should employ a wider and more natural variety of cohesive devices, ensure smoother transitions between sentences, and develop a more cohesive concluding paragraph that effectively ties the essay together.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The lexical range is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic ideas about the environment. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as "non degradable" and "prominent reasons," but noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling impede smooth reading. Examples include spelling errors like "individiuals" and "sufficent," as well as awkward collocations like "purpose recycle" and "plastics products." These vocabulary and spelling inaccuracies occur frequently and cause some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire, pay closer attention to word formation and spelling, and use vocabulary with greater precision and awareness of natural collocation in academic contexts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer uses a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences, while attempts at more complex structures are often faulty and laden with frequent errors. There are notable issues with verb forms and tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles, such as in "Individuals are favored the idea" and "there is growth on the use of plastics products which burn and it makes air pollution." Punctuation and preposition usage also show frequent lapses, which can cause difficulty for the reader trying to decipher the intended meaning. To move up to the next band, the student must demonstrate a better control of basic grammar, reduce the frequency of sentence-level errors, and successfully incorporate a wider variety of accurate complex sentence structures.
