Student answer (Band 5.0)
These days, the importance of the environment is become a common subject of discussion. Some people believe that concern for the environment is growing and more and more people are choosing to recycle, while others believe that recycling is not enough. I partially agree with this statement and share my opinion.
Firstly, consumerism is one of the main reasons for harming the environment. Some people use the material, and they do not want to recycle. It can take bad effect on the environment. Furthermore, some products are not capable of being recycled. For example, clothes are not capable of being recycled if it damaged that effect on the environment. It can create air pollution. Sometimes, it can effect human's health. Bad environment can affect all over the world. Therefore, some people support this view
On the other hand, some people think that recycling can be an optimal solution to preserve our environment. For instance, foreign countries take recycling materials from home as well as they charged them for these materials. They recycle these material that didn't effect their environment. In my opinion, some people recycle plastic bottles for many uses, such as for flower pots, storage goods, make some other interesting materials. It can save their money that didn't effect their environment.
In conclusion, both sides of the topic have their importance. Concern for the environment is growing and more and more people are choosing to recycle but people should use it carefully that didn't effect their environment. So, we need to consume carefully.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially, as the discussion of both views is somewhat limited and the position is not always clearly sustained throughout. While you introduce the topic of consumerism and touch upon recycling, your ideas remain under-developed and lack sufficient explanation or relevant examples. For instance, when you state that 'clothes are not capable of being recycled if it damaged that effect on the environment,' the point is confusing and lacks the depth expected for a fully articulated argument. Furthermore, your own opinion is introduced in the introduction as a partial agreement, but it is not clearly expanded upon in the body paragraphs or effectively synthesized in the conclusion, leading to a restricted treatment of the prompt's core requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organisation with the use of standard sequencing markers such as 'Firstly,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion,' which helps guide the reader through the text. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the logical connection between sentences is frequently disrupted. Cohesive devices are at times inadequate or repetitive, particularly the phrase 'that didn't effect their environment,' which is overused across multiple paragraphs. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as using pronouns like 'it' and 'they' without clear antecedents, making it difficult to follow the relationships between ideas. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within the paragraphs requires significant strengthening to achieve a smoother flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited, though minimally adequate to convey basic ideas about the environment and consumerism. You make numerous word choice and word form errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, such as writing 'is become' instead of 'is becoming' or using 'effect' (noun) where you mean 'affect' (verb). Phrases like 'take bad effect' and 'storage goods' are unnatural collocations. Furthermore, repetition of basic terms like 'environment,' 'recycle,' and 'effect' restricts the precision of your writing. To reach a higher level, you need to incorporate a wider variety of less common lexical items and demonstrate better control over word forms and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The text displays a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex forms that turn out faulty. There are persistent errors in grammar across the response, including subject-verb agreement issues ('clothes... if it damaged'), incorrect pronoun usage, and missing or misused articles. Prepositions inside grammatical patterns are also handled inaccurately, as seen in phrases like 'charged them for these materials' in this context. These frequent errors in basic and attempted complex structures can cause difficulty and strain for the reader. Incorporating a wider variety of error-free complex sentence patterns with better control over verb tenses is essential for improvement.
