Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that recycling is necessary and that consumption must be reduced—while clearly stating your own position that consumption reduction is essential. However, the development of ideas is uneven. For example, your initial point about eco-friendly bags is introduced in the introduction but not fully expanded later, and the arguments regarding health risks from plastic recycling, while attempting to be relevant, are slightly confused in their reasoning. To reach a higher level, you need to extend and support all your main ideas with fully elaborated explanations and more precise supporting examples rather than relying on brief or generalized assertions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing distinct viewpoints, and a conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by mechanical or faulty cohesive devices. For instance, the transition "On the hand" lacks the word "other", and referencing within paragraphs occasionally becomes unclear, such as pronoun use referring to actions rather than specific nouns (e.g., "environment does not naturally break down it naturally"). Paragraphing is used to separate the different perspectives, but to achieve a clearer logical progression, you need to ensure that cohesive links between sentences are smoother and that referencing is tightly controlled throughout.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating your general arguments regarding environmental protection and resource conservation. You attempt to use less common vocabulary items, such as "pivotal role", "non-biodegradable", and "detrimental", but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, form, and spelling. For instance, "recyclilng", "enivronment", "contians", "deterimental", and "increse" demonstrate spelling slips, while word choices like "choose to recycling" or "consume less resources" show awkward collocation. To improve, you should focus on precision in word formation and spelling, ensuring that less common lexical items are used accurately to avoid impeding communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing displays a limited range of structures, featuring a mix of simple and somewhat complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are recurrent errors in basic grammar, including verb agreement, article usage, and prepositions within grammatical patterns. Examples include "Environment play pivotal role", "it reqiure 100 of years", "form recycling bottle", and missing subjects or conjunctions such as "recycling is not enough,we have to choose...". These frequent errors require some effort from the reader to decode the exact meaning. To progress further, you need to demonstrate better control over complex sentence patterns, subject-verb agreement, and accurate punctuation.
