Student answer (Band 5.0)

In recent years the concerns for the protection of environment has shown a substantial increase. People are raising doubts to recycle as some argue that recycling would not be sufficient and public should focus on consuming less. The act of recycling has been a major outlook for saving the ecosystem from pollution in the 20th century. As people all over the world mostly had been a part of it. Recycling would result in recreating the same product without using harmful chemicals or precious raw materials.Whereas public argue that it should use less products that would intially let the industries to slow down thier process of making products and polluitng the environment with harmdful gases. In my opinion the process of recycling is the process to solve the problems of environment.

Recycling would result in the recreation of a product that would be no longer needed to be bought again. It is a key point or the people who support consuming less. For example from the last decade the use of paper bags instead of plastic bags has played a vital role for saving the nature and declining the use of plastic bags. The use of glass in food containers have been a major upgrade. Major companies like Amazon,McDonald's,Flipkart stared using paper and cardboard related packaging to not cause harm to the ecosystem.

Whereas consuming more is a threat shown by the poeple who disagree with the idea of recycling more. As cosuming more leads to high demand of the product and industry would have to make the product and unintentionally would result in the production of harmful gases. But the idea of recycling stops these problem, as recycling of products would not intend of production of new products and people would recycle the product.

In conclusion, the idea of recycling is an advnatage of protecting nature compared to consuming less. As while recycling your product you are consuming less. Therefore, in my opinion the technique of recycling is the best way for the protection of environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially. While both views are mentioned, the discussion remains somewhat limited and ideas are under-developed. For instance, the prompt asks to discuss both views regarding recycling versus consuming less, but the student's argument tends to blur the distinction, claiming that recycling inherently means consuming less, as seen in the conclusion: 'As while recycling your product you are consuming less.' The position is stated, but the main arguments lack depth and extension. To move to a higher level, the student needs to fully develop each viewpoint with well-supported explanations and maintain a clear, distinct separation between the two concepts throughout the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some organisation, but the response lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, with distinct blocks of text, but the logical flow between sentences and paragraphs is frequently disrupted. Cohesive devices are sometimes used mechanically or inaccurately, such as starting body paragraphs with transitional words like 'Whereas consuming more...' which creates awkward connections and grammatical incompleteness. Referencing is also unclear at times, making it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. To achieve better cohesion, the student must ensure that each paragraph builds logically upon the previous one and that transition words accurately reflect the relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message. There is an attempt to use less common vocabulary, but this results in noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'concerns for the protection of environment' instead of 'concern for environmental protection', and 'polluitng' with spelling issues. Other phrases like 'major outlook' or 'threat shown by the poeple' cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve lexical resource, the student should expand their range of functional vocabulary and focus on precise word choices and correct collocations suited for academic discussions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader, including article misuse ('the concerns', 'to recycle'), subject-verb agreement issues ('public should', 'industry would'), and incorrect prepositions. For example, 'People are raising doubts to recycle' and 'intially let the industries to slow down thier process' contain structural and grammatical inaccuracies. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to increase the variety of error-free complex structures and improve overall control over basic grammatical patterns, verb forms, and punctuation.
