Student answer (Band 5.5)

The more we keep ourselves updated, about the changes in our environment, we are more likely to be aware about the currents events about the climate change, global warming and green house gases. Most of the people are very worried, because they know something bad is happening but no one is doing anything to make it right. For example, Fresh water is one of the most valuable resource and people don't want it polluted, wasted, or contaminated. We should recycle as much we possibly can. One of the most famous recycled item is paper. Everyone, at least once in their life time have recycled paper, or have taken indirect action towards it.

The other side disagrees with this notion, because they believe that it would be best if everyone should consume less. While this is true for first world countries cause they are likely to have abundance of resources, we cannot say the same for developing countries, because of their growing needs. Only countries and people should consume less resources, who actually can live normally without the abundant resources. For example, the top 1 percent of the world consume Majority of the resources, if we make rules and regulations that after a certain thresold is crossed they aren't allowed to hoard more resources.

To core out, everyone should recycle if it sustainable and those who continue their normal life withour over consuption. Both sides have some valid arguements, each having their advantages and linitations.

In my humble opinion, everyone should do their part. Because if want to see changes reflected ,we will have to give our best for the future generations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task only partially. While you mention both recycling and consuming less, your position is not always clearly sustained throughout the essay. The main ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, particularly in the body paragraphs. For instance, when discussing how developing countries differ from first world countries in resource consumption, the argument stops short of fully exploring the consequences or linking it directly back to the prompt's core question. Similarly, your own opinion appears rather late and briefly in the final conclusion rather than being woven effectively through the body paragraphs. To improve, you should ensure that every main view is explored with fully extended explanations, relevant examples, and a well-articulated personal stance maintained consistently from the introduction to the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation present in the essay, but it lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, but the logical flow between sentences and paragraphs is frequently disrupted. For example, your second paragraph jumps abruptly from environmental awareness to recycling paper without a smooth transitional sentence. Cohesive devices are often inadequate, inaccurate, or used mechanically, such as starting paragraphs with abrupt transitional phrases like 'The other side' or 'To core out'. Referencing can also be unclear, leaving the reader to guess the precise relationship between adjacent ideas. To move to a higher level, you should focus on structuring your ideas logically, ensuring each paragraph has a clear central topic, and employing a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices to guide the reader smoothly through your arguments.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You demonstrate a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task. There are noticeable lexical errors and issues with word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. For instance, phrases like 'currents events about the climate change', 'recycled item', and 'over consuption' reveal inaccuracies in collocation and spelling. Additionally, terms such as 'thresold' are misspelled, and expressions like 'To core out' are unnatural and impede clear communication. To achieve a higher score, you should attempt a broader range of less common lexical items with greater precision, paying close attention to correct word forms, standard collocations, and accurate spelling throughout your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your writing displays a limited range of grammatical structures. While you make some attempts at complex sentences, these are often faulty, and there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader. For example, sentences such as 'The more we keep ourselves updated, about the changes in our environment, we are more likely to be aware about the currents events...' contain awkward phrasing, redundant commas, and preposition errors ('aware about'). Other issues include subject-verb agreement problems and fragments like 'Because if want to see changes reflected ,we will have to give our best...'. To improve your grammatical score, you need to work on increasing your control over complex sentence patterns, eliminating frequent basic errors in verb forms, articles, and punctuation, and ensuring your sentences are structurally complete and accurate.
