Student answer (Band 6.0)
More people are choosing to recycle as the environmental concerns are mushrooming. Whereas, others states recycling alone cannot assist to mitigate this severe issue. This essay will discuss both the views along with my own opinion.
To commence with, more people are indulging in recycling to cope with the major environmental issues. This shift can significantly help to control the environmental pollution as people tend to recylce waste can result less dumping of non-biodegradable materials. Thus, it can directly reduce the overall annaul dumping of waste in the world through several ways like sea dump, sewage and slum dumping, and so on. Thus, there could be an opportunity to build a prosporous and disease free world.
Moving further, only recycling cannot resolve the whole of the environmental issues as there are several other sources of pollution such as vehicle, noise, air pollution, and many more that can contribute to the distroration of the world. That is why less consumption is vital. So, there would be some more initiative which are need to encounter these harmful problems. That can involve use of electric vehicles, utilising the public transport, shutting down factors emmiting harmful gases enormously. Apart from this, there should be summits at global level to address this fatal problem.
In my opinion, recycling can be substaintial when environmental issues are concerned because it is one of the most lethal problem in the contemporary era and there should be some considerable measure to halt it. However, less consumption is ought to be promoted at global level, travel should be done in aptimal way to save the planet.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both recycling and consuming less, while also presenting a personal opinion. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others, which keeps the response at this level. For instance, the discussion on recycling outlines general benefits like reducing non-biodegradable waste dumping, but the arguments regarding consumption and the proposed solutions, such as 'shutting down factors emmiting harmful gases enormously', remain somewhat under-developed and lack specific supporting examples. The position is generally clear throughout the essay, although the conclusion slightly contradicts itself by first stating that recycling is substantial, yet subsequently asserting that less consumption ought to be promoted. To reach a higher band, the student needs to extend all main ideas with deeper explanations and more concrete examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at logical progression. The text is divided into appropriate paragraphs, each with a discernible focus, starting from the introduction through body paragraphs on recycling and consumption, to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'To commence with', 'Moving further', and 'In my opinion', which demonstrates a clear structure. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally mechanical or slightly repetitive, as seen in the frequent use of 'Thus' and 'That is why'. Furthermore, paragraph transitions could be smoother to fully achieve a higher band descriptor. The organizational framework is present, but managing referencing with greater flexibility is needed to move forward.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying the writer's meaning. The student attempts to use less common vocabulary items, such as 'mushrooming', 'prosporous', and 'substaintial', showing a willingness to expand lexical range. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'states' instead of 'state', 'annaul' instead of 'annual', 'prosporous' instead of 'prosperous', 'distroration' instead of 'deterioration', 'factors' instead of 'factories', 'emmiting' instead of 'emitting', 'substaintial' instead of 'substantial', and 'aptimal' instead of 'optimal'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they prevent the score from rising because precision and control over less common items are lacking.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and relative clauses. There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings present in the text, such as 'Whereas, others states recycling alone cannot assist to mitigate', 'people tend to recylce waste can result less dumping', and 'there would be some more initiative which are need to encounter these harmful problems'. Punctuation and article usage also show occasional lapses. Nevertheless, these errors rarely impede communication and the basic meaning remains understandable. To achieve a higher band, the writer must demonstrate better control over complex sentence structures and reduce the frequency of grammatical slips.
