Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that recycling is the best thing to do for the environment. However multiple people believe that recycling is not enough and we need to consume less. I partly agree with that because recycling dose not solve all the problems our environment is facing nowadays. But I don't believe that less consuming is the solution inventing creative solution is more effective.
People who believe that recycling is enough usually argue that, recycling solve most of the problems our environment is facing today. For example, plastic waste that deeply damage our sees and oceans, by harming fishes and multiple underwater creatures. With recycling this issue will not be a problem in the near future, because the plastic waste are going to be recycled. And won't be thrown in the ocean.
Meanwhile, those who claim that recycling is not enough usually argue that, although recycling is important it's not the ultimate solution for everything. For example, recycling won't solve the carbon issue, due to the burned fossil fuel by cars and factories. However I don't believe that consuming less is the solution. I believe that consuming smarter is more effective than less consuming. For example, traditional cars harm the environment however, using electrical cars is more effective than not using less cars.
In conclusion, although recycling plays an important role in reducing environmental damage, it cannot solve these problems on its own. And less consuming is only going to limit us, finding creative solutions electrical cars, for example, is more effective. Using less cars is not realistic with the lifestyle were are living today, In addition electric cars are better for the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a clear personal position: recycling helps, but you favour “consuming smarter” over simply consuming less. The examples of plastic pollution and electric cars are relevant, and your conclusion returns to your main argument. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The case for recycling is presented as though it can solve most environmental problems, but this claim is not examined or qualified. Your alternative of smarter consumption is also asserted rather than fully explained; for instance, clarify how electric cars reduce overall environmental harm and acknowledge any limitations. Developing these points with more specific reasoning would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from recycling to the limits of recycling and then to your own proposal is easy to follow. You also use signposts such as “For example,” “Meanwhile,” and “In conclusion,” which help readers navigate the argument. To make the organisation more fluent, avoid relying on these explicit transitions and repeated “For example” openings. Some links between ideas are abrupt: the paragraph moves from the carbon issue to your preference for smarter consumption without fully explaining the connection. The conclusion also introduces several points in a compressed sequence. More precise referencing and smoother links between claims and explanations would strengthen cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “recycling,” “plastic waste,” “fossil fuel,” and “electrical cars,” so the subject is clear. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “the ultimate solution.” However, the range and control are uneven, with repeated use of “environment,” “solution,” and “consuming,” and several inaccurate word choices or forms. For example, “sees” appears where “seas” is intended, while “less consuming” is an unnatural phrase for this argument. “Creative solution” is also vague and would be clearer if you named the kind of innovation. Aim for accurate collocations and more precise environmental vocabulary, rather than repeating broad terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “although,” “because,” and “however,” and the main meaning is generally understandable. Some sentence forms are controlled, such as “I partly agree with that because recycling…” However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and punctuation recur. For example, “recycling solve” should be “recycling solves,” and “the plastic waste are” should be “plastic waste is.” Several sentences also join independent ideas awkwardly, as in “And less consuming is only going to limit us, finding creative solutions…” Review sentence boundaries and use a clear grammatical structure for each claim. Greater accuracy in these areas, alongside your existing attempts at complex sentences, would improve control.
