Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify the topic and state a position: “recycling is not enough,” which gives the response a relevant starting point. However, the task asks you to discuss both recycling and consuming less, and neither view is explained with clear reasons or a specific example. Most of the body discusses environmental problems generally, such as pollution and damage to habitats, rather than comparing the two proposed responses. The conclusion repeats the prompt and your opinion but does not add support. The response is also 219 words, so it is 31 words below the 250-word minimum; 40 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To develop the answer, explain what recycling can achieve, why reducing consumption may be more effective, and support each point with a relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic overall shape, with an opening, body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the conclusion returns to your stated opinion. However, the progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the body paragraphs do not clearly organise the two views in the question. For example, “Another think of the people says the recycling is not enough” signals a new point, but the sentences that follow do not explain a connected argument. Linking words such as “but,” “however” and “in conclusion” are present, yet they cannot compensate for unclear relationships between ideas. Paragraphing also does not consistently separate the discussion of recycling from the case for consuming less. Use one paragraph for each view, with a clear topic sentence and supporting explanation.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “climate change,” “air pollution,” “soil pollution” and “recycle,” so the subject is recognisable. There are also attempts at more formal expressions, such as “negative impact” and “natural habitat.” However, vocabulary is often repetitive and inaccurate, which makes several ideas hard to understand. Phrases such as “phases the our environmental problem” and “environmental propose” do not convey a clear meaning, while misspellings such as “enviromental,” “Nawadays” and “socitey” reduce accuracy. Build a smaller set of reliable topic phrases and check spelling and collocations. For instance, use “address environmental problems” rather than “phases” them, and “protect the environment” rather than “environmental propose.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

You attempt both short statements and longer sentences, and the opening uses a contrast with “but.” However, sentence structures are often incomplete or inaccurately formed, so meaning is frequently difficult to follow. For example, “Many people for the environment is growing” lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “Nowadays, increasing the environmental problem day by day” has no complete main clause. There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “the our big environmental problem” and “many people think it is the i do work.” Aim first for accurate simple sentences with a clear subject and verb, then add one controlled complex sentence at a time. Check articles and agreement before combining ideas.
