Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You introduce the topic and state a position—“They are correct”—so the reader can identify your view that recycling alone is insufficient. However, the discussion of both views is only partial. The first body paragraph does not clearly explain how recycling helps the environment; it shifts to saving money, giving items to a beggar, and an unclear account of factory processing. The second paragraph claims recycled bottles can cause cancer and asthma, but gives no reliable explanation or support, and it does not develop the alternative of consuming less. To strengthen the response, explain each view directly, use relevant examples, and make your own position consistent in the conclusion, which currently focuses on health risks rather than reduced consumption.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “First of all” and “On the other hand,” and a concluding paragraph. These markers help show that you intend to discuss contrasting views. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow. For example, the sequence about giving an item to a beggar and factories selling or altering it does not clearly connect to the point about recycling. Several ideas are repeated, especially that recycled products may cause disease, while the conclusion does not bring the two views together. Plan one main point per paragraph, explain it in a logical order, and use pronouns and linking phrases only where their references are clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “pollution,” “recycle,” “waste material,” “factories,” and “environment,” which helps establish the subject. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and inaccurate word choice or spelling sometimes makes meaning hard to understand. Phrases such as “the surrounding,” “recycling product,” and “it can good us” are unclear or unnatural; “begger,” “enviroment,” and “asthama” also contain spelling errors. Try to learn common environmental collocations and use them precisely—for example, “reduce waste,” “reuse materials,” and “consume fewer products.” Check spelling and word forms carefully, and avoid repeating “several people” and “diseases” when more precise expressions are available.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt a few longer sentences, including those beginning “For example” and “When we utilize,” but most sentence patterns are simple, and errors are frequent enough to obscure some relationships between ideas. Examples include “recycling save our money” (subject–verb agreement), “it bring more diseases” (agreement), and “it can good us” (incorrect verb construction). Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable: “when we choose the product after that several people throw…” joins ideas without clear structure, and capitalisation after full stops is inconsistent. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then build controlled complex sentences using “because,” “although,” and “which.” Check agreement, articles, and punctuation during revision.
