Student answer (Band 5.5)

Concern for the environment is growing and more and more people are choosing to recycle. But some people suggest that recycling is not enough. They believe we need to consume less.I will discuss both of the point and will give my openion in conclusion.

As it is said that concern for enviroment is growing and more and more people are adapting recycle.Recycling is good and also make our enviroment clean but just by recycling we can not end up our issues recycling only make our problems less even after the recycled thing is thrown away and causes pollution. It does not end up solution it just causes an object to use twice instead of throwing in one use. After use we throw thay recycled object at all.

Consuming less is very important for us to save our enviroment as instead of using plastic bottles for drinking water we can use glass bottle it is also less harmful to our body and can be used as much time as we need. Instead of using plastigs bags every time we can only have one tot bag that is also much convineint and help full to us it can be used for a whole life and use of plastic bags will be less and this will save our enviroment. Thats why consuming less is more important than recycling.

In conclusion, i think that recycling just reduced the causes of enviroment diseses that are already made but consuming less help us to end it froom roots and can not cause any harm to enviroment. Consuming less is more efficient then recycling in my opinion.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state a clear preference for consuming less, especially in the conclusion. The examples of replacing plastic bottles with glass and plastic bags with a reusable bag are relevant, and you explain that recycling reduces rather than eliminates waste. However, the recycling discussion is brief and repeats the idea that discarded items still cause pollution; it would be stronger with a specific example or fuller explanation of its benefits. The comparison also needs more balanced development before you conclude that reducing consumption is more effective. The response is 231 words, so it is 19 words below the 250-word minimum; 39 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on recycling and consuming less, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the two main views, and phrases such as “In conclusion” signal the ending. However, progression within paragraphs is limited: the recycling paragraph repeats the point about objects being thrown away, while the second paragraph moves quickly from bottles to bags and then to the conclusion. Some links are mechanical or unclear, including “As it is said” and “That’s why.” Develop each main point in a clearer sequence—claim, explanation, example—and use references such as “this approach” to connect ideas without repeating them.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “recycling,” “pollution,” “plastic bottles,” and “consuming less.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “less harmful” and “save our environment.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors make the writing less precise: “adapting recycle,” “use twice,” “tot bag,” and “environment diseases” are difficult or unnatural. Repetition of “environment,” “use,” and “plastic” also restricts variety. Build a bank of accurate topic phrases, and check spelling and collocations so that your examples are expressed clearly and naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, for example, “Consuming less is very important for us to save our environment as…” This shows an effort to explain reasons, but longer constructions are often difficult to follow because clauses are joined without clear control. There are frequent errors in sentence boundaries and punctuation, such as the missing space and full stop after “less” in the introduction, and the run-on structure in “It does not end up solution it just causes…”. Other recurring issues include article use and agreement, as in “a glass bottle” and “consuming less help us.” Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea, then add subordinate clauses and check verb agreement and punctuation.
