Student answer (Band 5.0)
Unduolbtedly, protecting the enviroment is an essential part of today world. some people believe that recycling is important, whilest others think that people should consume less. i will discuss both views and give my opinion.
To commence with, recycling is very important for our enviroment. it helps to rwduce waste and pollution. people can recycle papper, plastic, glass, and metalm. Moreover, recycling saves natural resources and keeps our surroundings clean. For example, people can reuse plastic bottles instead of throing them away. Therefore, recycling is good way to protect the enviroment.
On the other hand, some people believe that we should consume less. i completly agree with this viewpoint because producing too many products uses natural resourcess and energy. people should buy only the thimhs they need. Furthermore, using fewer plastic bags and wasting less food can carry reduce pollution. For example, people can carry reusable shopping bags. As a result, consuming less can help to protect our planet.
To recapitulate, as every coin has two sides similarly this essay also has two sides however both should be taken i

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views: recycling is presented as useful for reducing waste and saving resources, while consuming less is supported with reasons about resource and energy use. Your opinion is also stated clearly in “i completly agree with this viewpoint.” However, the discussion remains limited and under-developed: examples such as reusing bottles and carrying shopping bags are relevant, but you do not explain their wider impact or explore the recycling argument in much depth. The conclusion is incomplete (“however both should be taken i”), so it does not clearly bring your position together. The response also falls 71 words short of the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop the ideas. Add explanation and a complete conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and an attempted conclusion. Connectors such as “To commence with,” “On the other hand,” and “For example” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression is basic and sometimes mechanical, with repeated patterns such as “Therefore” and “As a result” introducing similar conclusions rather than developing the argument. The final sentence is unfinished, which disrupts the overall flow and leaves the essay without a clear ending. Improve cohesion by linking each example directly to the point it supports, varying transitions, and completing the conclusion with a concise summary of your view.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “recycling,” “natural resources,” “pollution,” and “reusable shopping bags,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several spelling errors make the writing less clear, for example “enviroment,” “rwduce,” “papper,” and “resourcess.” Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “carry reduce pollution” and “the thimhs they need.” Repetition of “protect the environment” and “people” further restricts variety. Build a more accurate range of environmental vocabulary and check spelling carefully; for instance, use “reduce pollution” and “purchase only what they need.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate mainly through simple sentences and attempt a few longer structures, such as “because producing too many products uses natural resourcess and energy.” However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in sentence boundaries, capitalisation, articles, and punctuation affect accuracy. Examples include starting sentences with lowercase “some,” “i,” and “people,” and writing “recycling is good way” without an article. The final sentence is also incomplete, making its grammatical structure unclear. Practise accurate sentence construction, including articles and complete clauses, and proofread capital letters and punctuation. Adding a few controlled complex sentences would help you express cause, contrast, and results more clearly.
