Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify both views and state a position in the introduction: you will explain why people “need to consume less.” The recycling paragraph also gives relevant points about waste, raw materials and pollution. However, the response only minimally develops the discussion: the second view is introduced but receives just one brief explanation, with no example or fuller reasoning, and your own opinion is not developed in the body or conclusion. The response is 149 words, which is 101 words below the required minimum; this leaves too little space to address all parts of the task adequately. To improve, explain the benefits and limits of recycling, develop why reducing consumption is more effective, and support your position with a specific example and a conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph beginning “On the one hand,” and a contrasting paragraph beginning “On the other hand.” These markers help readers identify the two perspectives, and “Moreover” and “Therefore” attempt to connect supporting points. However, progression within the first body paragraph is difficult to follow because several claims are compressed together, and the example about paper and plastics is unclear. The second paragraph ends abruptly after one reason, so the discussion does not reach a complete conclusion. Some linking is also mechanical or incorrectly punctuated, such as the comma before “while” and the missing space in “environment.s a result.” Use clearer topic sentences, connect each explanation to its consequence, and add a concluding paragraph that restates your view.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “raw materials,” “pollution level,” “greenhouse gas emissions,” and “long-term solution.” These choices show an effort to discuss environmental effects rather than relying only on very basic terms. However, spelling and word-choice errors are frequent enough to make some phrases difficult to understand, for example “recucling in prodecting environmental,” “wast meterials,” and “people quality lifes.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “helps to greenhouse gas emissions” and “plastic recycle.” Aim to learn accurate topic collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, use “recycling protects the environment,” “reduces waste,” and “reduces greenhouse gas emissions.” More precise vocabulary would make your ideas clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use a few different sentence patterns, including a contrast between the two views and a relative clause in “which still harms the environment.” The opening also attempts to state your position. However, the range is limited, and errors in verb forms, sentence construction, articles, and punctuation occur frequently. For instance, “This essay will discuss both views and i will explain why i believed need to consume less” has problems with capitalization, tense, and the structure after “believed.” The fragment “While, plastic recycle helps…” does not form a clear complete sentence, and “Even recyclable products require energy to produce and process, which still harms…” has an unclear reference for “which.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with clauses using “because,” “although,” and “which.”
