Student answer (Band 5.5)

Recycling and renewable resources are very important to protect our planet. Recycling refers to re-use of different resource and our daily life products, and goods to avoid waste and pollution. Recycling plays a very vital role in our environment. Everyday, we are suffering from different environmental issues and they are disturbing our lives. The main cause of these environmental issues are pollusion and climate changes. Therfore, we have to adopt renewable resources and recycling methods to prevent global warming, pollution and climate changes.

Moreover, recycling provide us an opportunity to store our limmitted resources. It also give us an advantage to live our healthy life. Recycling ensure us to care about the natural resources and our consumptions. These methods and practice will help us to proctect our nature and resources for our future generations.

On the other hand, some people beleive that just recycling is not enough to protect our nature and biodiversity. They think that we should review our consumption. As, the resources are scarce and many things are limmited in this palnet so we should reduce our consumption and we will try to eat accrording to our need. We should not consume too much carelessly as this produce so much waste and pollution.

In conclusion, just recycling is enough but we should care about our consumption. Our resources are limmited and we should leave this planet healthy for them. Our next generation should live and consume the same resource as we are doing. So, we should care about consumption and recycling same.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views by explaining that recycling can conserve resources and reduce pollution, then presenting the argument for consuming less. Your own position is also present: you conclude that people should care about both recycling and consumption. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The benefits of recycling are stated broadly, without a specific example or explanation of how recycling reduces environmental harm; similarly, the case for reducing consumption would be stronger with a concrete example, such as buying fewer disposable products. The conclusion also begins, “just recycling is enough,” which conflicts with the later point that consumption must be reduced. Make your position consistent and support each view with clearer reasoning and relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting recycling, a contrasting paragraph about consumption, and a conclusion. “On the other hand” helps signal the shift between views, and the main topic remains clear. However, progression within paragraphs is limited because several sentences repeat general claims about protecting nature and resources rather than developing a connected explanation. Linking phrases such as “Moreover” and “So” are used, but relationships between ideas are sometimes unclear; for example, the link between recycling and “live our healthy life” is not explained. The conclusion also repeats earlier points and contains a contradictory opening. Build each paragraph around one main claim, then explain its consequence or give an example, using references and transitions precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “renewable resources,” “biodiversity,” “global warming,” and “consumption,” so the reader can identify the subject and your main ideas. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “resources,” “recycling,” and “protect.” Some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “store our limited resources,” “care about our consumptions,” and “consume the same resource.” Spelling errors—including “pollusion,” “limmitted,” and “beleive”—also reduce accuracy and can distract the reader. Aim for more precise environmental collocations and check spelling carefully. For instance, explain that recycling can “conserve resources” and that people can “reduce their consumption” rather than relying on broad or awkward expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “As the resources are scarce … so we should reduce our consumption.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to follow. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent: “The main cause … are” should use a singular verb, while “Recycling provide” and “Recycling ensure” need singular agreement. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and sentence construction, as in “re-use of different resource” and “As, the resources are scarce.” The final sentence, “Our next generation should live and consume the same resource as we are doing,” is grammatically unclear. Practise accurate agreement and articles, and divide complex ideas into well-formed sentences.
