Student answer (Band 6.0)
The environmental concerns have been growing throughout the last decades, with many people choosing to recycle, while others suggest that recycling is not enough, and call for lowering the consumption levels to fight pollution.
Which one of the two point of views is more reasonable?
Personally, i agree with people who argue that recycling is not enough, and are calling for lower consumption levels. In defense of my opinion i give the following reasons.
First, even tho recycling culture have become more popular in the westren world. It is not as popular in other cultures, and following it might be a burden on many people, that's what makes it less effective in the global scale.
Second, lowering consumption, especially in factories with limiting plastic use in products and switching to more environment-friendly materials, such as silicon, wood, metals... would be more effective.
Lastly, i give the example of india, although the call for recycling has been quite popular in that country, yet the average indian citizen does not act upon it, due to it not being part of his daily culture but, if unnecessary consumption has stopped, the amount of pollution in india will be lowred significantly, same goes for many east asian countries and west african countries as well.
In conclusion, i agree with people who argue that recycling is not enough, yet i don't underestimate the value recycling plays to protect the environment, that's why finding a balance between the two will be the best way to protect our planet and our environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and make your position clear: you argue that reducing consumption is more effective, while acknowledging recycling’s value in the conclusion. The points about uneven recycling practices and reducing plastic use in factories are relevant to the question. However, the two views are not explored equally: recycling is mainly discussed as difficult to adopt, rather than explaining its benefits, and the claim that lower consumption would significantly reduce pollution in India is asserted without supporting detail. The examples of India and other regions could be more specific, and the proposed balance between the approaches needs explanation. Develop each main point with a clear reason and a concrete example to make the discussion more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, a sequence of supporting points, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “First,” “Second,” “Lastly,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the argument. However, the progression is somewhat mechanical, and the opening question, “Which one of the two point of views is more reasonable?”, interrupts the flow rather than advancing the discussion. Some links between ideas are unclear, particularly in the long sentence about India, where the contrast between recycling and reducing consumption is difficult to track. Use clearer paragraphing for the two perspectives and your opinion, and connect claims with more precise referencing and transitions rather than relying mainly on numbered markers.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “recycle,” “consumption levels,” “pollution,” and “environment-friendly materials,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “limiting plastic use in products.” However, several word choices and collocations are imprecise or informal, including “point of views,” “lowering the consumption levels,” and “call for lower consumption levels.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “westren,” “lowred,” and “environment-friendly” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural academic collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe “reducing overall consumption” and “adopting recycling practices.” This would make the argument more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “although” and “while,” and the main argument remains understandable. However, some errors in agreement, sentence boundaries, articles, and punctuation are noticeable. For example, “recycling culture have become” should use a singular verb, while “First, even tho recycling culture…” is an incomplete sentence joined awkwardly to the next idea. The sentence beginning “Lastly, i give the example of india” runs on through several contrasting clauses, making its structure hard to control. Capitalisation of “I,” “India,” and nationalities also needs attention. Practise separating long sentences and checking subject–verb agreement and clause boundaries; more accurate control of these forms would strengthen the response.
