Student answer (Band 5.0)

In recent years, a substantial portion of population increase over the time. Some people shows concern about the environment and suggest more and more people to choose recycling option. But that is not only the solution for this problem. They argue that people choose to consume less.I strongly agree with people oponion about consuming less because it will help our evironment a better place.

Main reason to consume less becuase it will create a good impact on our environment. If you consume less then you don't have the so much garbage. For example, a study carry around the world in which they done a global research on environment, analyze whole process from start till the end.The results are if people consume less than their is going to be less wastage and less harmful for our planet.

Another reason people choose to recycle the products they brought from the market. If anything comes into the market, people will cosume it and then it will goes into garbage. Instead put some recycle bin around the city which will be transported into recycling centre. Where the item are sorted out and pushed them into machine for creating new products from them. This will reduce the cost for creating these products and will not affect out environment.

To conclude, people would work for the environment, some may choose to recycling but you will need to do more. Consume less products will reduce the wastage and will not affect your pocket. These solution will be beneficial for our climate and also for environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear opinion in the introduction, stating that you “strongly agree” that people should consume less, and you include relevant points about reducing waste and recycling. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the recycling argument is mainly a description of bins and processing rather than an explanation of why people consider recycling important or how effective it is. The claim about consuming less is also supported by a vague reference to “a study” without specific evidence or a developed example. The conclusion repeats your position but adds little. The response is one word below the required minimum. Develop both sides more fully and support each with a clear, specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs broadly separate the arguments for consuming less and recycling, and phrases such as “For example” and “To conclude” help signal stages in the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. For instance, the recycling paragraph moves from buying products to bins and then to manufacturing new products without clearly connecting these steps to the argument. Some linking is mechanical or unclear, as in “Another reason people choose to recycle” and “Where the item are sorted out.” Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main claim, then explain and illustrate it in a logical sequence. Clearer links between sentences would make the overall argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “recycling,” “garbage,” “recycling centre,” “wastage” and “environment,” so the reader can identify the subject and main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling and collocation errors make parts of the response awkward or less clear. Examples include “choose recycling option,” “a study carry around the world,” “consume less products” and “affect out environment.” Repetition of “environment” and “products” also limits precision. Aim to use accurate topic-specific phrases and check spelling and word forms carefully. For example, describe the “amount of waste generated” and explain that recycling can “reduce demand for raw materials,” rather than relying on broad or imprecise wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If you consume less then…” and a relative clause beginning “in which.” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles and punctuation sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “If anything comes into the market, people will cosume it and then it will goes into garbage” shifts awkwardly between forms and has an incorrect verb construction. “The results are if people consume less than their is going to be less wastage” also contains errors that obscure the point. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea, then check subject–verb agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries before adding complexity.
