Student answer (Band 5.5)

Enivronment plays an important part in our daily lives. It is our responsibility to take care of our environment. Nowadays most of the people are thinking about their environment. While some are thinking positively and others are negatively. Both views are briefly discussed below.

Some individuals are thinking that they should recycle the disposable objects. There are many disposable things like pllastic bags, glasses and many other raw materials. By doing these practices people think that there environment will be clean and less polluted. For example when a threw plastic bag after using so definetly it will go the streets and then will go the river which disturb the marine life. A data shows that most of the marine animals are killed from different disposable objects. So if people start recyling these things, so the will be clean and it will be very beneficial for ecosystem.

On the other hand, there are some people who think that should consume less instead of recycling. Because they think that recycling can also cause certain problems to the ecosystem. Like recyling waste products also produce some greenhouse and dangerous gases. For example if people start to consume less products and according to their needs and demands so the need for the recycling will be decrease. So directly the environment will be less polluted because less gases will be produced.

To conclude, both views are right. The idea of recycling is also appreciable while the less consuming idea is also beneficial. But i would say that we should try to consume less becuase in my opinion, by less consuming the pollution in the environment will be decrease.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear personal preference: recycling is useful, but you favour consuming less. The two body paragraphs stay relevant, and examples such as plastic reaching rivers and recycling producing emissions help explain the arguments. However, some points are asserted rather than fully developed. The claim that “most of the marine animals are killed” by disposable objects is broad and unsupported, while the explanation of recycling’s environmental costs could clarify how processing waste creates emissions. Your conclusion repeats the position but does not add much synthesis. To strengthen the response, explain the mechanisms behind each claim and use more specific, carefully qualified examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Paragraphing makes the discussion easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other hand” and “To conclude” show the intended direction. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or unclear. The opening sentence “While some are thinking positively and others are negatively” does not clearly identify what those attitudes refer to, and repeated “so” constructions make links between ideas awkward. Some references, such as “these things” and “the will be clean,” are difficult to interpret. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the claim it supports, rather than relying on repeated linking words.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “recycle,” “disposable objects,” “marine life,” “greenhouse gases,” and “ecosystem.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes meaning less clear. For example, “thinking positively and others negatively” is vague in this context, and “less consuming” is not a natural way to express reducing consumption. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “Enivronment,” “pllastic,” “definetly,” and “recyling.” Build a more precise set of environmental terms and check spelling carefully; accurate phrases such as “reduce consumption” and “waste-processing emissions” would make the argument clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including conditional structures such as “if people start to consume less” and a relative clause in “objects which disturb the marine life.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some sentence structures and verb forms are faulty. For instance, “when a threw plastic bag after using” lacks a clear subject and has an incorrect verb form, while “the need for the recycling will be decrease” uses an incorrect passive construction. There are also agreement and article problems, as in “most of the people” and “the will be clean.” Practise forming complete clauses and checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb patterns, especially in longer sentences.
