Student answer (Band 5.5)

People have different views about whether recycling is just enough to curtailed the environmental issues or we used less products that posses risks to our ecosystem. While some people believe that the wastage products are recycle to use again can reduce the environmental problems, others argue that recycling is not enough, we need to consume less. This essay will discuss both perspectives before explaining why I believe that we consume less products.

On the one hand, many people believe that the wastage products like clothes, bags, or any other products are recycled for maintaining the balance of ecosystem. The main reason for one is that these useless products can cause pollution which posses serious threats to human'health. As a result, we can make a sustainable environment for our future generations, and also curtailed poverty around the world. For example, many developed nations send these recycled products in the low-economy coutry for poor individuals.

On the other hand, others believe that we can buy only useful products which is sufficient for our daily life. They argue that citizens often purchase more products which can lead to wastage products. For instance, human can buy products instantly by online shopping which result in counserism. Although, I understand this perspective, I believe that recycling is not enough to protecting our environment.

In conclusion, both views have their own merits. However, I believe that we can purchase only useful items beacuse it can be cost-effective. In my opinion, this approach is more beneficial for individuals and society in the long term.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state a clear preference for consuming less, especially in the introduction and conclusion. The discussion of recycling gives a relevant reason—waste can cause pollution—and an example involving recycled goods sent to poorer countries. However, the example does not clearly explain how recycling reduces environmental harm, and the claim that it can “curtailed poverty” is not developed. The consumption paragraph identifies over-purchasing and online shopping, but the explanation of how buying less benefits the environment remains brief. To strengthen the response, explain the environmental impact of each approach and support your opinion with a specific, relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the discussion. However, some connections between ideas are unclear or mechanical. For example, the recycling paragraph moves from pollution to “curtailed poverty” without explaining the link, while “Although, I understand this perspective” interrupts the flow of the argument. The conclusion also repeats the preference for buying only useful items without drawing together the two sides. Use clearer links between claims and examples, and develop each paragraph around a more consistent line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “recycled,” “pollution,” “ecosystem,” “sustainable environment,” and “future generations,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts to use more formal expressions, such as “serious threats” and “in the long term.” However, noticeable word-choice, word-form, and spelling errors sometimes make the meaning less clear: “wastage products,” “possess risks,” “counserism,” and “low-economy coutry” are not natural or accurate expressions. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “products” and “believe.” Build a more precise range of environmental collocations and check spelling and word forms; for example, use “consumerism” and “low-income countries.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a contrast clause beginning “While some people believe…” and a conditional-style explanation with “which can lead to…”. The overall meaning is generally understandable, but errors in sentence structure and grammatical forms recur. For example, “whether recycling is just enough to curtailed” has an incorrect verb form, and “we need to consume less products” uses an ungrammatical comparative construction. In “products which is sufficient,” the verb does not agree with the plural noun, while “recycling is not enough to protecting” uses the wrong form after “to.” Practise accurate verb patterns, agreement, and countable/uncountable forms, then proofread complex sentences carefully.
