Student answer (Band 5.5)

There's an ongoing concern about the environment and people are choosing to recycle but some people suggest that recycling waste cannot resolve the issue and they think less consumption could help is minimizing this problem.I firmly stand with the opinion that recycling is not the solution but reducing the consumption could help the environment in making a better future.

On one hand,Concerns about environment waste growing, some individuals think that recycling alone could solve this problem.Recycling the waste is a good way to reduce waste but it wont always lead to betterment of the society. Not all waste could be recycled, some are burned into ashes which could affect the air and pollute the air with harmfull toxins are released when the plastic is burned.A case in mind,a bottle of a cool drink like thums-up,its body could be recycled but not the packaging like label and bottle cap could not be reclycled. This will result in burning the remains of the bottle and polluting the air which leads to global warming.

On the other hand,Some individuals stand by the point, recycling the plasic is not the solution to the problem. It can only be possible when the comsumption of such products is reduced. It can be done by decreasing the amount of production of such products which will in return decreases the amount of comsuption induced and helps reduce waste and protects the environment. For instance,we could achive such goal by educating the public about the harm this waste causes the envionmrnt and just recycling wont solve all the issues. This will result in people trying to consume less and stop harming the environment.

To sum up all, envionment wont be saved with just recycling waste.I stand by the statement that consuming less could make our world a save and harm-free envionment with the help of people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a clear opinion: “I firmly stand with the opinion” that reducing consumption is more effective. The recycling paragraph gives a relevant explanation about non-recyclable packaging and pollution, while the second paragraph explains how lower production could reduce waste. These points keep the response focused on the question. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. The example of the drink bottle is specific, but the claim that its remaining parts are burned is not clearly supported, and the argument for reducing consumption would benefit from a concrete example of how people or governments could achieve this. Develop the comparison between recycling and consuming less more explicitly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “On one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the two positions and your opinion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to track because several ideas are joined into long, loosely connected sentences. For example, the bottle example moves from recycling to burning and then global warming without clearly explaining each link. Some transitions, including “This will result,” are also vague because it is not always clear which preceding idea they refer to. Use shorter, more clearly organised sentences and make references explicit; this would make the cohesion less mechanical and the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “recycle,” “consumption,” “production,” “pollute,” and “global warming,” so the main subject is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make parts of the response harder to understand. Examples include “environment waste growing,” “betterment of the society,” and “harm-free environment”; these are not natural or precise expressions in context. Spelling errors such as “comsumption,” “reclycled,” and “envionmrnt” are also noticeable. Aim to use a wider set of accurate environmental terms and check spelling carefully. More precise phrases such as “reduce household waste” and “environmental damage” would help express your ideas clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional idea in “It can only be possible when the consumption … is reduced.” However, control is uneven, and errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and verb forms sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. The opening sentence joins several independent ideas without clear punctuation, while “which will in return decreases” has an incorrect verb form after “will.” There are also incomplete or awkward constructions, such as “Concerns about environment waste growing.” Practise building complete sentences with one clear main clause, then add subordinate clauses accurately. Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation when editing.
