Student answer (Band 5.5)

The enviornment today is more differant than which we experienced few decades ago.Less green landscapes,Less clean waterways and less clean air to breathe. The greedyness of human has damaged our enviornment in to a great extent.

However there are few positive comments are appearing in recent past. The concept of recycle is a major discussion in some forums. Not only a concept, but it has practically executed in some industries. There is another major concept has emeged. Thaat is idea of less consumption and preserving resources for the future. Both of above topic has discussed in length and worth to take as discussion topics.

The recycle and reuse is not a new trend. However it has become a main topic recently due to a special reason. The reson is non decaying material such as polythene. As we aware, it takes decades to change the shape of a used polythene bag and re integrate with soil. This is a big problem to the enviornment since massive production and usage of polythene. In a way one can say it is compulsory to use polythene in some situations such as medical procedures.

Therefore the only visible solution is adopting recycle and reuse campaign to minimize the damage to enviornment.

We can see several big companies also involved in this campaign. They have advertised there products mentioning the use of recycle material. Therefore we can see, there is a viable way forward for recycling campaign due to link with commercial return.

The other main concept to heal the enviornment is reducing consumption. There are some scarce resources which cannot reproduce commercially. This list contains pure water, clean air, natural forest etc. We have to cosume such resources very carefully so next generations too will enjoy the return. However less consumption theory does not attract commercial partners automatically. This is because, usually businesses depend on demand and consumption.

considering above we can belive that promoting can be done through partnership with businesses while consumption control will depend on the commitment of the people. However the both is equally important for the protection of the enviornment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear overall position: recycling can be promoted through business partnerships, while reducing consumption depends on individual commitment, and both are important. The discussion of polythene and its persistence gives the recycling argument a relevant example, while the point that businesses rely on demand explains why consumption reduction may be harder to promote. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the recycling section includes a practical example, whereas the consumption section mainly lists resources and makes a general claim about future generations. Explain more specifically how individuals or governments could reduce consumption and what benefits this would bring. This would make the response more fully supported and balanced.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, a discussion of recycling, a discussion of reduced consumption, and a concluding position. Paragraphs generally keep to one main topic, and linking expressions such as “However,” “Therefore,” and “This is because” help show relationships between ideas. At times, though, the progression feels mechanical because similar transitions repeatedly announce the next point, and some references are unclear—for example, “Both of above topic” and “the both” do not identify the ideas smoothly. The opening also repeats “less” in a list without clearly connecting it to the essay’s argument. Use clearer topic sentences and refer back to each view with precise nouns or phrases to make the flow more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of environmental vocabulary, including “recycle and reuse,” “non decaying material,” “scarce resources,” and “commercial return.” These choices allow you to discuss both the environmental and business aspects of the question. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “enviornment,” “greedyness,” “emeged,” and “cosume,” and some phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “change the shape of a used polythene bag” and “enjoy the return.” These issues sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for instance, describe polythene as taking a long time to “break down” rather than changing shape.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “This is because, usually businesses depend on demand and consumption” and a conditional idea about future generations. The main argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “there are few positive comments are appearing,” which combines two verb structures, and “Both of above topic has discussed,” which has problems with articles, number, and verb form. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention: several sentences run directly into the next, as in “with soil. This is a big problem.” Practise forming complete clauses, checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and leaving spaces after full stops. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to follow.
