Student answer (Band 4.5)
The environment is a key source of living things. environment gives us oxygen, water, wood, food which is use in our daily life. without oxygen and water there is no chance of human beings. Trees gives us wood and oxygen, river gives us clean water. but now for there own benefit peoples kill trees and populate the environment and rivers. its create a severe health condition in humans. there is no place for animals to live. its harm all of us. and there is only one solution grow trees and save water. stop cutting trees. we need to learn how to recycle the things and need to reuse it. its saves trees and save animals and us. recycling is very important to protect our environment and earth. there are so many technology which is recycling many things like plastics, papers and many more. it is useful for all of us. but in other side people think its not useful at all because its expensive and time consuming. there are not wrong but good things takes time so we patiently work to save the environment and save the human being because with the environment we are not able to live. the trees provides us almost 90% of the oxygen so we need to save trees and try not to populate the air and water also. we must recycle the necessary things and reuse it and also not use unnecessary things which harm the environment and populate the environment. its is the only thing which is protect humans and animals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address the general topic and state a preference for recycling, while also briefly acknowledging the view that it can be expensive and time-consuming. However, the task asks you to discuss both recycling and consuming less, and the second view receives little explanation: “not use unnecessary things” is mentioned only near the end, without reasons or an example. Your position is also not fully clear, since you call recycling important but do not explain whether it is sufficient or why reducing consumption should accompany it. Several claims, such as trees providing “almost 90%” of oxygen, are presented without support. Develop each view with a clear reason and a relevant example, then state your opinion directly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response contains a broadly relevant sequence: it introduces environmental harm, discusses recycling, mentions objections, and ends with recommendations. However, ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, so the reader has to follow a long, largely continuous block of text. Connections between points are often abrupt; for example, the move from the benefits of recycling to “but in other side” does not establish a clear contrast or explain the opposing view. Repeated references to saving trees, animals, and people also limit progression. Organise the essay into an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Use linking phrases to show how each reason supports the argument, and make pronoun references clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use basic vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “recycle,” “reuse,” “oxygen,” “rivers,” and “environment,” so the main subject is generally understandable. There are also attempts to express consequences, such as “severe health condition” and “time consuming.” However, vocabulary is repetitive and several choices or combinations are inaccurate or unclear: “populate the environment” appears to mean pollute it, while “there are so many technology” is not a natural expression. Repeated use of “save” and “things” also limits precision. Build a wider set of topic-specific terms and check collocations, such as “reduce waste,” “conserve resources,” and “pollute waterways,” so your ideas are expressed more accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences use simple patterns, and the reader can usually identify the intended message. There are attempts to connect ideas with “because” and “but,” but sentence structures remain limited and punctuation does not consistently separate complete thoughts. Errors occur frequently in agreement and verb forms, as in “Trees gives us” and “the trees provides us”; articles and sentence openings are also inconsistent, as in “environment gives us.” The final clause, “which is protect humans,” shows difficulty forming a relative clause. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete sentence boundaries first, then add controlled complex sentences to explain causes and contrasts.
