Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, Concern for the environment has become an important issue in many parts of the world. While some people believe that recycling is not enough, others argue that we need to consume less. In my opinion, i believe we should avoid material that will cause environmental issues.

To begin with, one of the main points is that why this concern is growing so rapidly .This is because of environmental and climatic changes. For example, plastic which is never recycled people dump in oceans. As a result, it destroying our marine life . Furthermore, we should take action on this series problem.

Furthermore, another important point is that recycling process costs a lot . The main reason for this is that i required a lot of machinary and labour which rase the cost of operations . For instance, removal of plastic waste from oceans beds it requires robots or a team of divers . Therefore, it will cost a lot . This shows that recycling is not enough, those nations who can afford they are doing it , but those are not what do they do? consume less or avoid it .

In conclusion, it's very great to see people nowdays doing recycling process, and also some believe we need to consume less which will rase corncern for the environment . Overall, I believe that we should cosume less and avoid no recycle material and make our environment healthy and green.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a position—“we should consume less”—and refer to both recycling and reduced consumption. However, the discussion only partially addresses the prompt: the first body paragraph mainly explains why environmental concern is growing, rather than presenting reasons why recycling is valuable. The second paragraph argues that recycling can be costly, but the example of removing plastic from ocean beds does not fully explain why people should consume less. Your ideas therefore remain limited and under-developed, and the conclusion repeats your view without adding support. The response is also 10 words below the required minimum. To strengthen the answer, explain the benefits and limits of recycling, develop the case for consuming less, and support each view with a relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help show the intended stages. However, progression is not always clear: the first body paragraph shifts from the growth of environmental concern to plastic pollution without explaining how this supports one of the two views. The second paragraph moves from recycling costs to a question about what poorer nations should do, leaving the argument unresolved. Some linking phrases are repetitive or mechanical, and references such as “it” in “it required a lot of machinary” are unclear. Organise each body paragraph around one view and connect each example explicitly to its main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “recycling,” “environmental issues,” “marine life” and “cost of operations,” so the reader can generally follow the subject. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or awkward, such as “this series problem,” “removal of plastic waste from oceans beds” and “avoid no recycle material.” Spelling errors, including “machinary,” “rase” and “cosume,” also reduce clarity. Repetition of “cost,” “environment” and “recycling” makes the expression less flexible. Aim to learn accurate collocations for this topic and check spelling; for example, describe the expense of “processing recyclable waste” and the benefits of “reducing consumption” rather than relying on unclear phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple sentences and longer structures, including a conditional-style question and cause-and-effect sentences. However, complex attempts are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “plastic which is never recycled people dump in oceans” has an unclear word order, while “As a result, it destroying our marine life” is missing a finite verb. In “removal of plastic waste from oceans beds it requires robots,” the sentence structure is incomplete and the subject is repeated. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “Nowadays, Concern” and the spaces before full stops. Practise building clear subject–verb sentences, then combine them with accurate clauses.
