Student answer (Band 5.5)

Solicitude for the environment is emerging and numerous number of individuals are selecting to recycle. However, others give the suggestion that recycling is not sufficient. They believe that we need to reduce intake. From my perspective, nowadays people are recycling substantially.

On the one hand, in recent times, more and more people are trying to recycle materials. The reason is that, in contemporary era, people are more environmental concious because they are aware of it that, if they do not recycle materials, environement get damaged. As a result, people cannot be able to survive, eventhough they would not be able to inhale fresh oxygen which highly leads to detrimental diseases such as, lungs problem. For instance, in many cities around the world, people are not able to inhale fresh oxygen, they are suffering from health issues as well as environmental problems.

On the other hand, consume less is also better approach because only recycling is not enough though to mitigate environmental problems. Due to the fact that, there are many materials which doesnot recycled such as, drinking glasses and ceramics. As a consequence, it will effect detrimentally to the environment. For example, in Pakistan, there are many cities where plastic glasses has been seen on the roads which leads to pollution. Therefore, if people consume less, it will contribute to mitigate from environmental disaster.

In conclusion, although consuming less is also a better approach however, I believe that recycling more and more is playing vitol role in the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both recycling and consuming less, and your final sentence gives a preference for recycling. However, the position is not fully clear: the introduction says people are already recycling substantially, while the conclusion says recycling plays a vital role without explaining whether it is more effective than reducing consumption. The supporting ideas are relevant but under-developed. For example, you mention that some materials cannot be recycled and that plastic cups litter roads in Pakistan, but you do not explain how reducing consumption would address these problems or compare its impact with recycling. The response is also one word below the required minimum. Develop each view with a clearer explanation and a specific, relevant example, then state your position consistently.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. Within paragraphs, however, progression is sometimes weakened by mechanical or unclear links. For instance, “As a result” introduces a claim about survival and oxygen that is not clearly connected to recycling, while “Therefore” repeats the preceding point rather than advancing it. The conclusion also uses “although” and “however” together, making the relationship between the two views awkward. Improve cohesion by making each sentence’s connection explicit and using references such as “this reduction in waste” only when their meaning is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “recycle,” “mitigate,” “environmental problems,” and “detrimental diseases.” This shows an effort to discuss the issue beyond very basic terms. However, several choices are unnatural or inaccurate and sometimes make the meaning harder to follow: “Solicitude for the environment” is not a natural way to express growing concern, and “reduce intake” does not clearly mean consuming fewer products. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, such as “concious,” “environement,” and “vitol.” Aim for precise, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. Reusing accurate terms such as “consumption,” “waste,” and “pollution” would be more effective than choosing ambitious but unsuitable wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional and cause-and-effect structures, as in “if they do not recycle materials” and “although consuming less is also a better approach.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some passages difficult to read. Examples include “consume less is also better approach,” “there are many materials which doesnot recycled,” and “plastic glasses has been seen,” where sentence structure, articles, verb forms, or agreement are not controlled. Some punctuation also disrupts sentence flow, particularly commas placed after “Due to the fact that” and before examples. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them; check subject–verb agreement, articles, and passive forms before adding more complex links.
