Student answer (Band 5.5)

Whether products are recycled or not has become a debatable issue . Although a segment of society asserts that products should be recycled while others argue that it is not enough they also less their consumption . However , I opine that both are together beneficial for environment .

Supporters beleive that recycling can be done to protect environment because there are different types of waste that causes harm to nature such as plastic bags and waste material . For example , Japan , foster people to recycle waste like plastic bags as it can enhance the nature and soil quality . As a result , it enhance the quality of air .

Opponents argue that we need to consume less which is also effective for environment , humans can not reduce their consumption needs just to protect environment . For an instance , India , individuals spread the waste anywhere they want and they also buy extra things to consume . As a result , it can effects our environment .

From my notion , both have their own significance . Although , recycling is the fruitful method to enhance the environment because it can reduce the waste material from earth and we can use same product again and again , need to less cosume should not be ignored because residents often buy products unnecessarily even though they do not need them and throw them away which causes pollution . Both can be done together which boosts our nature efficiently .

To conclude , environment protection has become a herculeen task . I think that recycling and less consumption make a remarkable difference together to protect the environment .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the discussion and state your view: recycling is useful, but reducing consumption also matters. The examples of Japan and India are relevant in topic, and the conclusion restates your combined position. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The recycling paragraph claims it improves soil and air quality without explaining how, while the consumption paragraph says people cannot reduce their needs and then gives an example of buying extra goods; this makes the argument unclear. Your opinion is clearest in the final two paragraphs, but it would be stronger if you explained why prevention and reuse together are more effective than either approach alone, supported by a specific, accurate example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main sections. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and linking words are often mechanical or inaccurately used. For example, “Although” begins sentences without a clear contrasting clause, and “As a result” introduces outcomes that have not been fully established. The shift from “humans can not reduce their consumption needs” to the example of buying extra things also weakens the connection between claim and support. Use clearer topic sentences and make each example directly explain the point it follows; vary transitions and ensure their logical relationship is accurate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “recycled,” “consumption,” “waste material,” “pollution,” and “environment protection,” so the subject is generally clear. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “fruitful method” and “remarkable difference,” but some combinations are unnatural or imprecise. Repeated use of “enhance the environment” does not clearly express the intended benefit, and “less cosume” is both misspelled and incorrectly formed. Other noticeable errors include “beleive,” “herculeen,” and “effects” where a different word form is needed. Build a more precise set of environmental collocations, such as “reduce waste,” “conserve resources,” and “lower pollution,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “Although” and “because,” but complex structures are often faulty and errors occur frequently. For example, “there are different types of waste that causes harm” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “it enhance the quality of air” and “it can effects our environment” show problems with verb forms. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent: commas are often separated from the preceding word, and some sentences join several ideas without clear control. Articles and sentence construction need attention as well, as in “protect environment.” Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea and a correctly formed supporting clause before attempting longer combinations.
