Student answer (Band 5.5)
In today's world, environment problems are become more serious more and more individula are choosing to recycle. In contrast, some people argue that recycling is not enough. They believe that we have to consume less. This essay will discuss both views before giving my opinion.
On the one hand, environmental problem are increasingly in modern era and more and more people choosing to recycle. This is because recycling reduce the significant amount of raw material. For example, if people reuse the plastic bottels, pepers and glasses, it reduce the demand of raw material. Another significant reason is that to protect the environment. The main reason is that it reduce the pollution and helps keep our surrunding clean. Recycling helps reduce waste, conserve natural resources abd protect the environment for future generations.
On the other hand, many individuals believe that recycyling is not enough in spite of people nooed to consume less. This is because excessive consumption put lots of pressure on the environment. For example, buying unnecessary products increases waste and create demand for more production. In addition, if people are comsuming less , it reduce pollution. this is because factories release harmful gases , chemicals and greenhouse emmision on the environment. individual can do very little to adress this issues so government have to take resposbility fot this.
In conclusion, Although people are choosing to recycle such as reusing plastic bottels, glasses and paper, i belive that recycling is not enough solution , people need to cunsume less such overconsumption.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the discussion: recycling is presented as a way to save raw materials and reduce waste, while consuming less is linked to lower production and pollution. Your conclusion also gives a view that recycling alone is insufficient. However, the position is not fully clear or developed: the final sentence is difficult to interpret, particularly “people need to cunsume less such overconsumption.” Some supporting points are repeated, and the claim that individuals can do little before governments must act is introduced without explanation or an example. Develop each view with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation, then state your own position directly and consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the discussion’s direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear or repetitive: the first body paragraph repeats that environmental problems are increasing and that more people recycle, while several sentences begin with “This is because” or “For example.” Some links between ideas are also awkward, and the conclusion does not clearly follow from the discussion. Use topic sentences that introduce distinct points, connect each example explicitly to its claim, and make the final paragraph a concise restatement of your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “raw material,” “excessive consumption,” “pollution,” and “greenhouse emission,” so the reader can identify the main subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices, collocations, and spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “environment problems,” “recycyling,” “surrunding,” and “cunsume”; “consume less such overconsumption” is also unclear. Repetition of “environment,” “recycle,” and “reduce” limits precision. Build a small set of accurate topic phrases and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise expressions for waste, resource use, and manufacturing would help you explain the ideas without repeating the same vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional example beginning “if people reuse” and a contrast introduced by “Although.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to follow. Examples include “environment problems are become,” “recycling reduce,” and “buying unnecessary products increases waste and create demand,” where verb forms or subject–verb agreement are incorrect. The final sentence also lacks a clear grammatical structure. Sentence boundaries and capitalisation are inconsistent, as in “this is because” after a full stop and the lowercase “i.” Practise accurate present-tense forms, agreement, and complete clause structures before adding more complex sentences.
