Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge and experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some argues that recycling is not sufficient enough solution in the current environmental conflicts even though many chose it because of the increase supply and lack of resources to recycle many. On the other hand, some think that the more effective way to solve the issue is by lessening to the productions of goods and services. In my opinion, recycling and reducing products that can damage ecosytem are both important. In my essay, I will discuss bith views and my opinion.
On the other hand, Recycling is a process wherein we can transform a waste material into a new usable product instead of discarding it that can harm the environment. The benefit of recycling is that it lower the risk of pollution that can damage our ecosystem. Through this, we can have a better management of our waste products. For example, every household will segregate materials that can be recycled such as plastic bottles then we can use it to produce a product such as container to collect water.
On the other hand, other believe that recycling alone is not sufficient enough to safeguard the environment because if the supply is too much then the resources to recycle it will be overwhelmed. They think that the more effective way to support the environment is to lower the consumption of products that will put the surrounding at risk of harm. An example is that reducing the production of cars because the more we produce cars, the more we emits gas that will destroy the ozone layer and can cause global warming that will affect all kind of species.
In conclusion, both views have importance in our environment. In my opinion, recycling and lowering the consumption of products should work hand in hand because bith of them are beneficial in providing security tothe world we live in.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a clear position: recycling and reducing consumption should work together. The two body paragraphs explain the benefits of recycling and the argument for reducing production, with relevant examples such as reusing plastic bottles and the environmental effects of car production. This covers the task, but some ideas are less fully developed than others. For instance, the recycling example explains what households might do, but not why recycling alone cannot keep pace with waste or what limits its effectiveness. The car example also makes a broad claim about emissions and the ozone layer without explaining the link in detail. Develop each argument with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation and a more precise example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. This makes the overall line of argument understandable. However, progression and cohesion are uneven. Both body paragraphs begin with “On the other hand,” even though the first presents the recycling view, so the transition is not always logical. The introduction also announces that you will discuss both views, which adds little, while the conclusion repeats the main position without drawing the discussion together. Use transitions that show the actual relationship between ideas, and connect examples more explicitly to the claims they support. Clearer referencing would also help the reader follow how each point develops.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “recycling,” “pollution,” “ecosystem,” “consumption,” and “global warming,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “safeguard the environment.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “environmental conflicts,” “increase supply,” “lessening to the productions,” and “security to the world.” Spelling errors such as “bith” and “ecosytem” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations and precise terms: for example, describe environmental “problems” or “pressures,” and say “reduce production” or “lower consumption.” Proofreading for spelling and word forms would make your vocabulary more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if the supply is too much” and a relative clause in “products that will put the surrounding at risk.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction affect accuracy. Examples include “Some argues,” “it lower the risk,” and “the more we emits gas”; these subjects require matching verb forms. The opening sentence is also difficult to follow because several ideas are joined without clear grammatical relationships. Work on subject–verb agreement and build longer sentences around one clear main clause, checking that dependent clauses attach logically. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
