Student answer (Band 5.5)

Due the rising concerns in the society regarding the increase in rubbish, people start moving towards recycling of the waste. However, other believe that recycling is not enough. They should limit the consumption.

Firstly, half of population consider recycling of the houshold waste is the only solution. They say, citizens are producing large amount of waste on daily basis and we should focus on the recycling of it because we can produce electricity from it.Electricity is essential for them as well. They believe population is increasing day by day and they can not stop consumption. If we will not recycle this then it could harm us.

Conversely, other citizens believe that recycling is not the only solution of this, we need to consume less. They say, we are creating huge amount of waste on daily basis. They do not have enough resources to deal with rubbish. The waste is too much and they can not manage this, if we will not focus on caring of rubbish, it will increase on future which could be harmfull for us.Recycling also require heavy machines and equipments which is not enough to deal with this trash. For instance,if we will not focus on the waste it will be double in few years which could be dificult to manage for us.so we should focus on the consumption.

From my perspective,we should focus on our daily life consumption, because we will not have enough resources in future.Recycling could be costly.Government should plan best methods to deal with this problem and limit the conusmption of household waste as well. They should also provide equipment needed for recycling.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both recycling and reducing consumption, and your own view is clear in the final paragraph: consumption should be limited because resources may be insufficient in the future. The point that recycling can produce electricity is relevant, while the second view is supported by concerns about waste volumes and the equipment recycling requires. However, the discussion remains general and some reasoning is unclear—for example, “Electricity is essential for them as well” does not explain how this supports recycling, and the example about waste doubling is hypothetical rather than specific evidence. Develop each side with clearer explanations or a concrete example, and make the comparison between the two approaches more explicit. Your position is present, but it could be stated and supported more consistently throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a concluding paragraph that gives your opinion. Signposts such as “Firstly,” “Conversely,” and “From my perspective” help readers follow the main stages. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to track because several claims are joined together without clearly showing how one leads to the next. For example, the first body paragraph moves from household waste to electricity and then population growth, with limited explanation of the links. References such as “this” in “recycle this” are also not always precise. Use clearer topic sentences, separate distinct supporting points, and connect each explanation directly to the paragraph’s main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “recycling,” “consumption,” “resources,” and “household waste.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “heavy machines and equipments.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the meaning less natural. Examples include “caring of rubbish,” “increase on future,” and “limit the consumption of household waste”; the last phrase confuses consuming goods with producing waste. Spelling errors such as “houshold,” “harmfull,” and “dificult” also affect accuracy. Build a bank of precise environmental terms and check spelling and collocations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional forms such as “if we will not recycle this then it could harm us.” These attempts show an effort to explain consequences, but the conditional structure is often faulty: use “if we do not recycle this, it could harm us.” Errors in sentence construction and punctuation also occur, as in “They do not have enough resources to deal with rubbish. The waste is too much and they can not manage this, if…” Several sentences run together, and commas are often missing after introductory phrases. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and plural forms, for example “half of population” and “recycling also require.” Practise accurate conditional patterns and review sentence boundaries, articles, and subject–verb agreement.
