Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You express a preference for recycling in the opening, and you attempt to support it with observations about cleanliness and a visit to Jeddah. However, the response only partially addresses the task: it does not explain the view that people should consume less, nor does it compare that approach with recycling. Your position is also difficult to identify precisely because the opening sentence is unclear. The examples about European and Asian countries are broad and are not developed into reasons showing how recycling helps or why reduced consumption might be necessary. The response is below the required 250 words, which limits how fully you can discuss both views. To improve, state your opinion clearly, explain each view, and add specific supporting examples for both sides.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
The response has separate paragraphs and a basic sequence, moving from an opening opinion to country comparisons and then a personal example. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, the progression between ideas is weak: the second paragraph shifts from giving items to needy people to recycling bottles without explaining how these points connect. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Now,” and “In the last year” are used, but they do not establish clear relationships between claims. References such as “its,” “he,” and “these countries” also make it hard to tell what or whom you mean. Organise the essay around the two views, use one paragraph for each, and connect examples explicitly to the point they support.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “recycle,” “plastic bottles,” “environment,” “health problems,” and “clean.” These words help communicate the general subject, and the Jeddah example gives you an opportunity to use more precise language. At present, however, the vocabulary is repetitive and often imprecise, so several claims are difficult to understand. Phrases such as “some importants,” “many thinks recycle,” and “drop outside the home” do not express the intended ideas clearly. Spelling errors, including “perpective,” “enviroments,” and “recylce,” also reduce accuracy. Build a small set of accurate topic phrases—for example, “reduce household waste” and “use fewer disposable products”—and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both short statements and longer sentences with reasons, such as “because it will used our recycle products.” This shows an effort to connect ideas, but control of sentence structure is inconsistent, and errors often make the intended meaning unclear. For example, “If we need recycle” is missing a grammatical form after “need,” while “If its didn't recycle then he give” has problems with the conditional structure, pronoun reference, and verb form. The opening also uses an unnecessary capital in “If.” Practise building accurate basic sentences first, then combine them with “because,” “if,” and “although.” Check subject–verb agreement, verb tense, articles, and punctuation in each sentence.
