Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is widely believed that recycling will benefit evironment, that is why a significant number of people are choosing to recycle their daily usage products. While some believe that consumers should limit their needs and save this planet . In my opinion, both views are legit because recycling and less consumption results in a positive way to maintain the natural habitat of the Earth.

From first perspective, reuse of the certain objects will lower the burden of waste on the planet. As we know plastic has a substantial years of half life which acts as a curse to our mainland. So, if we encourage people to recycle it, their will be minimum number of waste sites in our neighborhoods. For example, the governments should advocate people about recycling of plastic goods to maintain a healthy environment.

Second opinion says that recycling alone is not enough to curb the climate issue, people have to reduce their daily needs. People should spend less money on the products which will acts as waste after their first use. For instance, the packed snacks, shopping bags which enters waste zone after their usage. Furthermore, they urge institutions to manufacture eco-friendly products which have less exposure to this land.

In conclusion, people are becoming more concious about the current condition of our ecosystem and spread awareness of reusing the products. And others believe that just recycling the products is not enough in currrent scenario, people should miminmise their daily requirements. I have a balanced opinion because both the recycling and less consumption is better for Earth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a clear position: “both views are legit” and later that recycling and reduced consumption are both beneficial. The response also gives relevant examples, including plastic waste, packaged snacks and shopping bags. This meets the task’s main requirements. However, the discussion is unevenly developed: the recycling paragraph focuses mainly on reducing waste sites, while the consumption paragraph gives examples but does not explain in much detail how buying less reduces environmental harm. The point about institutions manufacturing eco-friendly products is relevant but introduced briefly and not connected clearly to your argument. To strengthen the response, explain the effects of each approach and develop one example for each view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “From first perspective,” “Second opinion” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the reader can identify your balanced position. This is a strength of the organisation. To move beyond this level, make connections between ideas more natural and precise rather than relying mainly on formulaic signposts. For example, the relationship between the claim about recycling plastic and the example about government advocacy could be explained more explicitly. Some references are also unclear, such as “they urge institutions,” because the identity of “they” is not established. Use clearer links and referents to improve flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “burden of waste,” “climate issue,” “eco-friendly products” and “natural habitat.” These choices show awareness of the environmental topic, and the main ideas remain understandable. However, several inaccurate or unnatural expressions limit precision, such as “daily usage products,” “substantial years of half life,” “minimum number of waste sites” and “less exposure to this land.” Spelling errors, including “evironment,” “concious” and “currrent,” also reduce control. Aim for common, accurate collocations before choosing more ambitious phrases: for example, describe plastic as taking a long time to decompose, and say that products contribute to landfill. Proofreading spelling and word forms would make your vocabulary more effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if we encourage people to recycle it” and a relative clause in “products which have less exposure to this land.” The overall meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “their will be” should be “there will be,” and “products which will acts” has incorrect verb agreement and form. There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries, as in “reuse of the certain objects” and the missing space after “neighborhoods.” The opening sentence joins two independent ideas with a comma. Work on accurate verb forms, articles and punctuation while continuing to use varied sentence structures.
