Student answer (Band 5.5)

Problem for the ecosystem is increasing and because of that many people are selecting to recycle. However, some of them suggest that recycling is not sufficient we need to consume less sources, I believe that latter view is more apporopriate in this situation which I will explain in the following paragraphs.

In first view, people are choosing to reuse because some things are not melt with the soil and when it is not happen then it will create problems for environment. For example, plastic bags are never melt with soil and it is main problem of plastic, so that people are now become aware and they just use plastic for their basic need and always try to use that again, and as a result problem from the plastic are become less serious and effective.

In letter view, individuals thing it is not sufficient that we only do recycling with that we have to use less elements which is harmful for environment and this elements are natural resources such as petrol and gas and also use less electric machines which reduce carbon dioxide in the air such as AC and they are absolutly right because some people used vehicles and machines more and more but they have to understand that if their is no need of using this things then they should avoid to use it which helps lot to ecosystem.

In my opinion, people should have to consume less energy such as natural sources reason is they eliminates harmful gases in the air which is dangerous for our enviornment.

To sum up, some people choose to recycle which is good but cosume less things which is harmful for environment is more beneficial for the natural world if people understood that.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state a clear preference for consuming less, especially in the opening and concluding paragraphs. The discussion of recycling gives a relevant example—plastic bags—and explains why reuse may help. However, the two positions are not developed evenly: the recycling paragraph focuses mainly on plastic, while the case for reducing consumption lists resources and appliances without explaining in detail how reducing their use would complement recycling. Your own opinion is repeated, but its reasoning is brief and partly overlaps with the second view. To strengthen the response, explain the limits of recycling and develop one or two specific consequences of consuming less, supported by a clear example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. This makes the overall arrangement coherent, and signposts such as “In first view,” “In letter view,” and “To sum up” help readers follow the discussion. However, some links are mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is not always clear. For example, the long sentence beginning “In letter view” moves from natural resources to electric machines, then to vehicles, without clearly separating or connecting these points. The opinion paragraph also repeats an idea from the preceding paragraph rather than advancing the argument. Use clearer transitions and divide complex points into shorter, logically connected sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “recycle,” “natural resources,” “carbon dioxide,” and “ecosystem,” so the main subject is clear. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or awkward choices make parts of the argument difficult to interpret. For instance, “consume less sources” and “use less elements” do not express the intended idea naturally, while “not melt with the soil” is an imprecise way to describe plastic’s persistence. Spelling errors such as “apporopriate,” “absolutly,” and “enviornment” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of environmental collocations and check spelling; for example, use “reduce consumption of natural resources” and “does not decompose in soil.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “if their is no need … then they should avoid to use it.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries occur frequently enough to make some passages hard to follow. Examples include “many people are selecting to recycle,” “people are now become aware,” and “the problem … are become less serious.” The opening also joins independent ideas without adequate punctuation: “recycle. However” needs a space, and the following sentence needs clearer separation. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, and break long sentences into shorter units before adding more complex structures.
