Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge and experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Due threat to environment, most people think that we should increase the process of recycling, whereas some consider that recycling is not ultimate solution. They assume that we need to reduce the consumption. Both have advantages and disadvantage.Through recycling process we can not completely eliminate the plastic bags from environment, it also very difficult to decompose them. By reducing consumption of polythene plastic bags, we can overcome this problem. I believe that we should reduce the consumption rather than recycle them.
One of the most beneficial aspect of recycling is that we can make again replicate products. This is because it reduces our costs. As a result we can spend these expenditures at other projects. For example, we can recycle bottles and papers to make these items again. Moreover, recycling process reduce the waste from the environment. This is because it makes the enviroment pleasent. Therefore, it leads to reduction of concerns.
Despite these processes, if we reduced the consumption of polythene bags and plastic bottle. This is because there would be no polythene containing product in the environment. As a result, it will reduced the concerns, which are assossiated with environment. For example, if we replace the plastic bags with paper bags , eventually it will reduce its consumption.
In conclusion , both recycling process and less consumption has its own pros and cons. Through recycling we can reduced the waste, and can make the products again. Through less consumption we can reduce the environmental exposure. I believe that less consumption is the most suitable way to reduce the concerns assossiated with environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and state a clear preference for reducing consumption, especially in the opening and conclusion. You also give relevant examples, such as recycling bottles and paper and replacing plastic bags with paper ones. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the benefits of recycling are mainly described as saving costs and reducing waste, without explaining how recycling works or its limitations in much detail. The argument for consuming less is also asserted rather than fully supported; for instance, the claim that replacing plastic bags with paper bags will reduce consumption needs clarification. Develop each view with a fuller explanation and a specific, relevant example to make your position more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two approaches, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main points, and linking expressions such as “For example,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” show attempts to connect ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear or repetitive. The recycling paragraph moves from cost savings to environmental benefits without fully explaining the connection, while “This is because” and “As a result” are used repeatedly and sometimes introduce unclear relationships. The sentence beginning “Despite these processes” does not clearly connect to the preceding paragraph. Use more precise links between claims and explanations, and make each paragraph develop one central point in a clear sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “recycling,” “consumption,” “environment,” and “reduce,” so the main subject is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “reduce,” “process,” and “concerns.” Some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “make again replicate products,” “environmental exposure,” and “reduction of concerns”; these can make the intended meaning less clear. There are also spelling errors, including “enviroment,” “pleasent,” and “assossiated.” Aim for more precise environmental vocabulary and check spelling carefully. For example, describe “reducing waste” or “lowering plastic use” rather than relying on the broad and repeated word “concerns.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “if,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in verb forms and agreement: “recycling process reduce” should be “the recycling process reduces,” and “it will reduced” should be “it will reduce.” There are also problems with articles, plurals, and sentence construction, as in “One of the most beneficial aspect” and the fragment beginning “Despite these processes, if we reduced…”. Punctuation and spacing are uneven, including missing spaces after full stops and spaces before commas. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and complete conditional sentences, then proofread each sentence for tense and punctuation.
