Number of adults (in thousands) whose parents spoke a regional language to them in childhood
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The diagram illustrates the comparison between adults whose parents force their parents to learn native language beginning from childhood to those who learn local language own their own during young age. First of all there are two types of people from the group whose parent force them speak thier local language, first group is of those who regularly spoke, which are divide into different groups, there 600 thousand individuals who Aisatian and occitan, 350 thousand are Breton, 200 thousand individual are Cresole and lastly Corsican count down as almost 180 thousand. Now talking about those individuals who occasionally spoke regional language, thier numbers in thousands are 220 Aisantian, 1100 Occitan, 400 Breton, 110 Cresole and 100 Corsican. Looking at both the highest individuals who spoke native language are Aisatian and Occitan, While those who ocassionaly spoke are Occitan people in large numbers.
On the other hand least spoken by Cresole and Corsion, and Breton has almost equal number in both groups.
Those diagram given at the ends tells us the number of inhabitants who learned to speak thier regional language own thie own, here Aisatian are 400, Occitan 250, Breton 190, Cresole 80 and Corsican are 60 thousands in numbers. This shows more number of individuls who learn own their own are related to Aisantic group and least number relatec to Corsican group.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response attempts to describe the data, but it fails to accurately interpret the charts. The student misinterprets the categories, incorrectly stating that parents 'force' their children to learn languages, and misreads the data points (e.g., claiming 600 thousand for Alsatian when the chart shows different figures). The overview is weak and lacks a clear summary of the main trends. The report is descriptive but lacks the analytical precision required for an Academic Task 1 response. To improve, focus on accurately transcribing the data and identifying the most significant trends rather than listing every figure.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by confusing phrasing and a lack of clear cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are often abrupt or missing, making the text feel like a list of observations rather than a cohesive report. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'Those diagram given at the ends', which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison. Using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'In contrast', 'Furthermore', 'Consequently') would significantly improve the flow and structure of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with several spelling errors (e.g., 'Aisantian', 'Cresole', 'thier', 'ocassionaly'). The student relies on basic terminology and struggles with precise collocations related to data description. There is an attempt to use some subject-specific terms, but the frequent errors in spelling and word choice impede clarity. To reach a higher band, the student needs to focus on accurate spelling and using more sophisticated vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'a significant proportion'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('there 600 thousand individuals who Aisatian'), incorrect word order, and missing articles. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors that affect readability. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization. To improve, the student should focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that articles are used correctly before nouns.
