Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.
Number of adults (in thousands) whose parents spoke a regional language to them in childhood
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The graphs indicates the number of elders spoken five regional languag such as Aisatian, Occitan, Breton, Creole and Corsican during teenager and now with their generation.
Initially, Occitan and Alsatian is spoken by 600 thousands naturally by birth and reaches at top among the other spoken then sometimes. For instances, more than one million spokes. Similarly Aisatian adults have habit of their using their language with their kids. For e.g. 400 thousand parents however these drop down to 200 thousand as occasionally spoken language.
One the other hand, Breton is spoken by 200 thousands habitually and twice about 400 thousand by person occasionally. People feel enjoy using this language during their free times. However the creole and and corsican language is spoken below 100 thousand with all the pattern. These have lower interest to use their language
Overall the using of different regional language is dominated by Occitan and Alsatian as natural, sometimes and with kids.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the task by describing the provided charts, but the analysis is hindered by significant inaccuracies in data interpretation. For instance, the student mentions '600 thousands' for Occitan and Alsatian, but the charts show different figures. Furthermore, the description of the categories (habitually, occasionally, with kids) is confusing and lacks the precision required for a Band 6 or higher. While the main trends are identified, the lack of clarity in reporting the data makes it difficult for the reader to follow the information accurately. To improve, focus on clearly distinguishing between the two charts and using precise numerical data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'One the other hand' and 'For instances'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the second and third paragraphs where the transition between different languages and categories is abrupt. While there is an attempt to group information, the lack of logical flow and the repetitive nature of the sentence structures limit the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, with several word-choice errors that impede clarity. Examples include 'elders spoken' instead of 'adults who spoke', 'spokes' instead of 'speakers', and 'feel enjoy' instead of 'enjoy'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the data with precision, relying on basic terms like 'habit' and 'interest'. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more accurate terminology for statistical reporting, such as 'the figure for', 'accounted for', or 'a significant proportion'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'graphs indicates', 'Occitan and Alsatian is'), incorrect verb forms ('spoken' instead of 'speak'), and missing articles. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'the creole and and corsican language is spoken below 100 thousand with all the pattern'. Improving basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.
