The charts below show the number of French adults whose parents spoke a French regional language to them when they were children and the number who speak a French regional language to their own children.

Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.

The bar graph represents the number of French adults whose parents spoke a French regional language to them when they were young, and the number who themselves speak French with their own kids. The variety of French languages spoken is Alsatian, Occitan, Breton, Creole and Corsican.

Overall, the comparison between the languages spoken by adults who use them regularly and those who use them occasionally is given. Among all, Occitan is the most popular language spoken.

Almost 600,000 adults habitually spoke the Alsatian and Occitan languages. While Breton was spoken by 280,000 people. The number of Creole speakers was 200,000, whereas very few spoke Corsican, with about 180,000 adults. On the other hand, the Alsatian speakers who spoke this language occasionally were few, about 210,000. Speaking about Occitan speakers, those who spoke their regional language occasionally were highest among all, marking up to 1.1m speakers. Here also occasional speakers for Breton were less about 400,000 people. While Creole and Corsican speakers were just 100,000 people.

Another data on adults who speak regional languages with their own kids shows that almost 400,000 adults speak the Alsatian language, whereas Occitan is spoken by 250,000 adults. While Breton speakers are declining to 100,000 people. Whereas Creole language is spoken by almost 90,000 people and Corsican is getting lost as its numbers are still decreasing to 80,000 people.
