Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the task by describing the provided charts, but the coverage is uneven. While you identify the main trends, the data presentation is often inaccurate or confusing. For example, you state Occitan reached '1 million' for occasional use, which is not supported by the visual data. Furthermore, the comparison between the two charts is somewhat disjointed. To improve, ensure you accurately extract figures from the charts and provide a clearer overview that synthesizes the information rather than just listing data points. The lack of a clear, accurate summary of the key features limits the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Meanwhile, Alsatian recoreded same popularity'. The transition between the two charts is abrupt, and the logical progression of ideas is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'furthermore', 'consequently') to connect sentences and ideas more fluidly. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow which data point belongs to which category.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'prarents', 'thier', 'segement', and 'substantically'. These errors, while not always impeding communication, are noticeable. You attempt to use some descriptive language, but it is often imprecise (e.g., 'under rated language'). To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for describing trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a significant decline'. Expanding your range of vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling will significantly enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('The bar charts illustrates'), missing articles, and awkward sentence construction ('Many parents talked their children when they were in childhood'). Punctuation is also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading your work to correct subject-verb agreement and article usage, and try to construct more complex sentences with greater accuracy.
