The charts below show the number of French adults whose parents spoke a French regional language to them when they were children and the number who speak a French regional language to their own children.

Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.

The bar charts illustrate the number of adults, measured in thousands, whose parents spoke five diffrent regional languagesto them during their childhood, either habitually or occasionally. The final chart shows how many adults currently speak these languages to their own children.

Overall, occitan was the most commonly spoken language by parents, particularly on an occasional basis, while corsican and creole had the lowest figures. in addition, the number of adults speaking these languages to their own children was considerably lower than the number who had them from their parents.

Regarding languages spoken habitually, Alsatian and Occitanwere the most common, at approximately 600,000 adults each. This was followed by Breton, at around 250,000. creole and corsican, at about 120,000 and 100,000, respectively.

The pattern was somewhat different for languages spoken occasionally. occitan was by far the most prevalent, with about 1.1 million adults having heard it from their parents. breton ranked second, at approximately 400,000, while Alsatian accounted for around 250,000.
