Number of adults (in thousands) whose parents spoke a regional language to them in childhood

Student answer (Band 5.5)

Based on the charts i recieved, here is a detailed analysis of the number of french adults whose parents spoke a french regional language to them during their childhood and how many of them now speaks a french regional language to their offsprings:

upon observation,we can clearly notice that the number of people that were spoken to habitually by their parents is supperior to the number of adults who speak the language to their children.

For example:the number of adults whose parents spoke to them in Alastian habitually is 600 thousands and the ones that were spoken to occasionlly is 250 thousands while the number of those that spoke this language to their kids after becoming an adult is 400 thousand people this is a decrease of about 450 thousand people or a whole 52.9 percent

This is the same case for those that were spoken habitually to in Occitan,Breton,Creole and Corsican since there was a decrease from about 600,250,100 and 80 thousand people and occasionally 1.5 million,400,100 and 100 thousand peopleto 250,close to 100,80 and 50 thousand people respectively. We can conclude that there was a drastic decrase of people teaching there kids the regional language

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main trends and provides data to support the description. However, the presentation of data is somewhat cluttered, particularly in the second paragraph where multiple figures are listed in a way that makes it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison. While the overall trend of a decrease is identified, the report lacks a clear overview or summary paragraph that synthesizes the information effectively. The inclusion of specific data points is good, but the lack of clear structure in the body paragraph hinders the clarity of the comparison between the two charts.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay lacks a clear paragraph structure; it is essentially one long block of text after the introduction. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'For example' and 'We can conclude', but the overall flow is hampered by the lack of logical paragraphing. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when listing multiple figures for different languages, which makes the progression of ideas feel mechanical and disjointed. To improve, you should separate the introduction, the overview, and the specific data comparisons into distinct paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several spelling errors ('recieved', 'supperior', 'occasionlly', 'decrase') and some awkward phrasing ('offsprings', 'there kids'). While you attempt to use specific terminology related to the charts, the range is somewhat limited. The repetition of 'number of' and 'people' suggests a need for more varied synonyms to describe statistical data. Improving your spelling and using more precise collocations would significantly enhance your lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('how many of them now speaks', 'there was a decrease... and occasionally 1.5 million... to 250... respectively'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While you attempt some complex sentence structures, they are often marred by these errors, which occasionally impede the flow of information. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would help improve your accuracy.
