The charts below show the number of French adults whose parents spoke a French regional language to them when they were children and the number who speak a French regional language to their own children.

Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

So basically there are two charts mainly comparing the regional language which is spoken by the parents of the adults and then second bar chart represents the number of adults that speak the regional language with their children. So this study is validating whether the language is passed on to next generation or not. So in first chart there are two part. In first part the language which is spoken habitually is mentioned and the most spoken language is occitan. On rights side of this chart, the graph is showing the language that is spoken occasionally. It shows the most commo language which is spoken occasionally is occitan but it is spoken by more people than habitual. In second chart it is shown the language which spoken by same adults children. The most common language that is transferred by these parents to their children is alsartian. It means the language which is spoken habitually has more influence. It is possibly because it may be become part of their life. To learn language consistency is required and practise is also required. As the habitual language is spoken daily so it will have strong influece.
