Number of adults (in thousands) whose parents spoke a regional language to them in childhood
Student answer (Band 4.0)
The charts shows the difference between the French peoples speaks their children when they are child and in the another chart show when these childs grow up and become adult do they speak French with their children or not. So basically its a simple comparison.
When the currently adults are at their young age their parents spokes more language occasionally and less habitually. But it varies like Alsatian spokes more habitually like they are more use in general like in house and other daily use work. But Alsatian is spoken less occasionally. In second number Occitan comes its less habitually spoken but more ocassionally spoken, like they are often use not daily life use. In 3rd number Breton appears same Occitan, it also less habitually spoken then ocassionaly. Same with Creole and Corsican.
But its changed the chids become grew up and they the era they become more educated and more resposible they spokes more regional language with their children. Overall conclusion is that the comming generation become more valueable and understand the importance of language.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response attempts to describe the charts, but fails to provide an accurate or well-structured overview of the data. Key features, such as the specific figures for habitual versus occasional speakers or the numbers of adults speaking languages to their children, are omitted or severely misconstrued. Phrases like 'Overall conclusion is that the comming generation become more valueable' reveal a fundamental misunderstanding of the visual data, which actually shows declining trends across generations. Furthermore, the tone is inappropriately conversational ('So basically its a simple comparison'). This falls short of the expectations for a Band 4 or Band 5 academic task, as the response fails to properly select and report the main trends.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The essay lacks clear logical organisation and proper paragraphing. The introduction is conversational and muddled, while the body paragraphs fail to logically group information about the different languages or chart categories. Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes misused, as seen in transitions like 'In second number Occitan comes' and 'Same with Creole and Corsican.' Pronoun referencing is frequently unclear, leaving the reader confused about whether the writer is referring to parents, children, or adults. There is no clear progression of ideas throughout the response, resulting in a disjointed structure that matches the descriptor for Band 4.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary range is extremely limited and repetitive, with frequent word-choice errors that impede communication. Examples include 'peoples speaks their children', 'childs grow up', and 'spokes more regional language'. The writer struggles with basic lexical items and word forms, substituting nouns for verbs ('spokes' for spoken/speak) and failing to use appropriate academic terminology. Less common lexical items are either absent or used incorrectly, such as 'valueable' instead of valuing. This performance aligns closely with Band 4 descriptors, where basic vocabulary and repetitive errors restrict the clarity of the message.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
Grammatical control is very weak, with frequent and pervasive errors across simple and complex structures. Examples of severe grammatical inaccuracies include 'The charts shows', 'When the currently adults are at their young age their parents spokes more language', and 'the chids become grew up and they the era they become more educated'. There is a complete lack of accurate complex sentence forms, and punctuation is largely neglected. These frequent errors often distort the meaning and make the text difficult to read, placing the writing squarely at Band 4.
