Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The student attempts to address the task by mentioning the charts and several languages such as 'Alsatian. occitan, breton, creole, and corsican'. However, the response falls significantly short of a fully developed academic report. Many sentences are fragmented, incomplete, or contain inaccurate data descriptions (e.g., 'Less than 100 people spokes habitually and 100 spokes occasionally'). The response also trails off awkwardly at the end with 'The number of adults who speak a regional language to their own children.As'. Crucial trends, such as the overall comparison between childhood exposure and transmission to children, are omitted or poorly articulated. This corresponds to Band 4.0 performance.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The text lacks proper paragraphing, with most sentences clumped into a single poorly structured block. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, leading to a disjointed flow (e.g., 'in addition a little higer increase', 'Samewise occitan language have higher'). There is no clear logical progression, and referencing between ideas is frequently confused. Furthermore, the response is incomplete and ends abruptly mid-sentence, severely disrupting overall coherence. This performance aligns with Band 4.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very basic, repetitive, and heavily flawed. There are numerous word-form and spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'aisatian' for Alsatian, 'higer' for higher, 'occaionally' for occasionally, and 'spokes' instead of spoken. The student struggles to use appropriate terminology for describing statistical data or trends. While some target vocabulary from the prompt is attempted, the frequent errors and restricted range limit the communication of ideas, placing it firmly at Band 4.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

Grammatical control is extremely weak. The response contains pervasive errors, including missing capitalization ('french', 'first chart'), incorrect verb forms ('people spokes', 'breton language speaks'), and missing auxiliary verbs. Sentences are frequently ungrammatical or incomplete, such as the final fragment 'The number of adults who speak a regional language to their own children.As'. There is virtually no control of complex sentence structures, and basic punctuation is frequently neglected. These persistent errors severely impede meaning and reflect Band 4.0.
