Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially. While you attempt to cover the charts showing the number of French adults whose parents spoke a regional language and those who speak to their own children, the information is presented with notable inaccuracies and limited development. For instance, your overview mentions that 'Occitan spoke occasionally comapred to other language' and highlights Alsatian incorrectly in places, missing key comparative trends like the dominance of Occitan in occasional usage. Furthermore, the details provided in the body paragraphs lack clarity and contain confusing data references, such as stating 'occitan and alsatin at 600 thousands, it spoken habitually', which reflects a limited selection and understanding of the key features.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation with an attempt at paragraphing, but the response lacks a clear overall progression. While you use transition words like 'Overall', 'Meanwhile', and 'However', cohesive devices are frequently mechanical, inaccurate, or repetitive, such as starting multiple consecutive sentences with 'However' or relative fragments. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, making it difficult to follow the logical links between data points. Paragraph division is attempted, but the internal flow within paragraphs is disjointed due to abrupt shifts between different languages and categories without adequate structural scaffolding.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic topic. You attempt some less common vocabulary such as 'habitually', 'occasionally', and 'popularity', but this is offset by noticeable word-choice errors, unnatural collocations, and incorrect word forms like 'offspring' instead of children, 'local language' instead of regional language, 'deatils', and 'meger figures'. There are also vocabulary repetitions throughout the response. While communication is not entirely impeded, these lexical inaccuracies restrict your score and require much more precision and natural phrasing to reach higher band levels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You display a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple or poorly connected clauses, and your attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text that cause difficulty for the reader, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The bar charts illustrates'), missing articles ('occitan accounted surge figure', 'breton recorded less number'), fragment sentences ('Examining the deatils of number of adults...'), and incorrect prepositions ('communicate with their child into the alsatian'). Punctuation is also misused, particularly with comma splices separating independent thoughts.
